Bald Headed Woman
Jay-Jays Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Gonna make me mean, yes, love, it make me mean
I don't want no bald headed woman
Gonna make me mean, yes, love, it make me mean
Well I don't want no sugar in my coffee
Gonna make me mean, yes, love, it make me mean
I don't want no sugar in my coffee
Well I've been driving on bald headed mountain
I've done my time, done my time
I've been driving on a bald headed mountain
I've done my time, oh, done my time
Done my time, done my time, done my time
Well I don't want no sugar in my coffee
Gonna make me mean, yes, love, it make me mean
I don't want no sugar in my coffee
Gonna make me mean, oh, make me mean
I don't want no bald headed woman
Gonna make me mean, yes, love, it make me mean
The lyrics of Jay-Jays's song, Bald Headed Woman, reflect on the singer's preference when it comes to women and his coffee. He starts with declaring that he does not want a bald headed woman in his life. He associates bald-headed women with making him "mean" and ruining his love life. Then, the singer moves on to his coffee preferences, saying that he does not want sugar in his coffee, as it also makes him mean. The lyrics could suggest that the singer may have had past experiences with bald headed women and sugary coffee that ended up making him unhappy or irritable.
The repetitive nature of the lyrics may suggest that the singer has a very clear idea of what he wants in his life, and he is not going to compromise on it. The fact that he talks about his preferences for a woman's physical appearance and his coffee taste in the same lyrics could suggest that he values both equally. The song may also reflect the cultural norms of that time, where beauty standards for women may have played a significant role in relationships.
