this gives me really big flashbacks because i’m currently a sophomore in high school and i’ve hit GM, but back in 7th and 8th grade I was in plat and watching Jayne vods to improve. I even remember a specific dva zarya vod of a diamond player I watched that still sticks with me. Jayne really brings back some parts in my life bc of how good his content used to be

Man I miss him, I don't fully understand the negative impacts he had on owl but I think overall he did more good than bad. His community content got a lot of people through tough times, so I'd like to think we'd welcome him back with open arms someday.

jayne literally got me from the border of silver/gold to masters. i was a lucio 1 trick who couldnt even do that well to being able to play every hero in the support role. then i learned tank and having never played the role climbed to high diamond all because is rein and winston guides. jayne was a successful coach in my eyes.

On the, "never fully developed" thing at 18:04: I dated someone with bipolar type 2 for a really long time. Between mania and the depression episodes they can almost become a different person (when untreated), picking up/dropping interests with an insane level of obsession, it's an incredibly tough thing to live with. Thankfully the person I was dating got better and is now living a great life. It's clear Jayne was passionate about what he did, hopefully he is doing well now. Maybe he can come back to Overwatch 2 someday and just casually make content on YouTube occasionally for his enjoyment. Also hopefully he isn't into scam pyramid scheme nft's that wouldn't go down well, lol

I was very late to the scene, and was part of peco for it's final 10 months, but i was completely unaware of most of this stuff. wild. he still has my utmost respect for what he did for the scene, especially early on, and built such a great community in peco. great video

for me it's the complete other way around, i was in the early days and it was 2020 on that i lost track of him, much like you, i still hold great respect for him. i think his impact on the ow community, as a whole, was really positive.

I'm gonna miss him. As a Winston main from the release day, he really taught me everything that got me outta plat. It wasn't until OGE that I found better Winston content, but that was more like trying to absorb pro playstyles with no help. Hope Jayne's happy and that maybe we see him working that reception desk once again.

Man was the reason I started paying attention to professional OW. His vods and coaching are what helped me understand the game when I started playing. I still think back to tips he'd give in vod reviews when I'm mid game and try to emulate those behaviors as well as what I've learned since.

I sincerely hope he's in a better place and enjoying what he's doing.

From getting involved into Overwatch initially, to getting into the first few iterations of Elo Hell events, playing in Jaynes subscriber tournaments, and eventually starting casting in overwatch, Jayne had such a huge influence on that period of life for me. This makes me so sad. I've been out of the OW scene for a couple years and came back for OW2 but it's not gonna be the same without Jayne. I watched his content all the time and learned a lot. The way he conveys ideas was so digestible to me and I always saw a warmth in him that you don't get from most in the competitive gaming industry.

I've always liked his content, not only was it educational but fun to watch as well. Ignoring who was right or wrong in the controversy, it makes my blood boil how they made fun of him in general, and the clip of sideshow and that other irrelevant guy laughing at "jayne invents esports" is in extremely poor taste on their part.

Jayne was a great source of Overwatch Content here on Youtube. I was still a Silver/Bronze player when I first started watching his stuff, I'm now in Plat, which is still pretty lame but it's a hell of an improvement.

Honestly, Dallas was a Dumpster Fire, they had XQC and Seagull, that that's really about it. The rest of their roster were Plat-Masters who seemed to play marginally better under Jayne.

Honestly, I think you're right, if Jayne hadn't been given the Dallas Fuel job, focused on his content creation and maybe every 2-3 years gets to coach the best of the best for Team Canada, that's a pretty strong resume.

I doubt he will ever see this comment, but I hope he sees the video. I really enjoyed him and his content. We all go through our own personal struggles, and putting yourself out in a public space leaves you open to interpretations and people coming in that you might not have expected or wanted, or even be well equipped to handle. Wherever he is, whatever he is doing. I genuinely hope he is happy, and keeps being happy. If for some reason he ever comes back to content creation, I'll be one of the first to be right there with him.

Jayne was a great guy but he did go for more marketable players on his Team Canada. There were much better tanks out there but he went with XQC because XQC was famous. High-level players involved in the WC selection process knew that perfectly well.

When OW was in it's prime and Jayne was doing amazingly insitful VOD reviews was some of most fun I've ever had in gaming. I wish he would have tried doing the content that made him popular with a different game instead of staying on the sinking ship of OWL and Overwatch in general. And I'm really sad I didn't save some of the songs he used to play on his "Jayne Radio" prestream segments.

My husband and I first met Jayne in person at the first Dallas Homestand in the Budlight Watchtower. Can say hands down one of the greatest experiences of my life and from that day forward Jayne always shared a special place in my heart in regards to OW and OW content. I truly hope he has found happiness and peace in his life after so much drama. A wonderful man with a wonderful penchant for dreams!

I've been a fan of the league since preseason of 2018 and I've been following all this closely but I didn't even know about the rumour about Jayne (at least not that he said it was started by Halo) or that PECO even existed. Great content man you clearly know your stuff and how to research.

He didnt fall off.. he grew up. Content creation is cool and all buts its like saying I want to be a pro athlete when I grow up. Like ok cool good luck getting into the big 4 (nfl, nhl, mlb, and nba) i guess theres always football as well. If those dont work you can be a pro bowler or even disc golf, but wanting to be one and actually grinding to make it happen are two different things. I actually respect the ones that walk away instead of becoming larger than life.

I am not all that sure what is going on throughout some parts of the video, but I wanted to say that I find the way that these people are laughing at him to be pathetic. This was his job and they felt like they had to smack him down a peg when he was clearly going through something. These guys are garbage for laughing at someone when they are already down, it's not funny, it's cruel. In every clip that you showed I didn't see anyone standing with him. He seems like a genuinely good guy and they mocked his failures, clearly shows who they are as people.

once Jayne changed from awesome coach and content creator to "say controversial stuff for views" type of guy, i lost interest. it made me sad, but a lot of content creators go that way because they see it as easy money. it's easy to keep a certain crowd if you pander to all their angry opinions.

To me Jayne always seemed like an intensely passionate person who couldn’t adequately channel his passion into his work. You can tell that he really cared about competitive Overwatch and wanted it to be a significant moment in video game history hence why he would constantly lash out at some of the stuff OWL was doing (which he absolutely shouldn’t have been doing, sometimes you gotta know when to just shut up). Ultimately I think he fell off for the same reason every other content creator left the community, OW just wasn’t evolving as a franchise and eventually his passion for the game dried up, and since that was seemingly the one thing he was interested in doing with his channel he just sort of left. If you remember, there was a period where he stopped making OW content and started doing variety content instead and that got practically no views so I can see why he just quit cold turkey instead of trying to make something else work. It’s the age old content creator story, person gets clout for one thing so they do only that one thing for a while until they burn themselves out on it and want to expand but by that time, the audience they’ve built is only interested in the stuff they were exclusively pumping out.
