They changed as they knew it (the popularity and style of the first album) wouldn't last long in that lane. They have even tried to say TPSCBE was a concept album for them and not their style. Look at what happened to The Lost Children of Babylon (who as you know is all over TPSCBE). None of the LCOB emcees reached the success of JMT. The LCOB had some initial heat, then long gaps between records and now haven't release an album in over a decade.
Lastly, JMT and LCOB were initially influenced by the Islamic/Muslim traditions but LCOB went more into Nuwaubian teachings and lees so the Islamic teachings. Vinnie made his choice (though he still isn't a strict Muslim), he also knew that "far out there" style has a short shelf life. Hard core hip hop never dies!
I still listen to LCOB, but they don't have the recognition, the respect or the money JMT came our with. I'd say they made the right choice.

@@brettjohnson78 I agree but they could of easily gone back to this style or made more albums just like this 2 at the time or around the time of making this, kept them and released them once they got a much bigger following. But that's hindsight isn't it. But that's what I would of done or suggested if I was part of the group but again it's hindsight isn't it. Fact is up until now they have had a very good career and made a good amount of money, which is the secondary primary reason for making music, obviously at the start the primary is for the Love of music, but that fades after a while and you have to make some decent amount of money to be able to live in society. So... But I do wish they made more stuff like this album. Rap/Hip Hop like this, you have literally got an infinite endless amount of knowledge and information that you can inject into your tracks. 👊💙
