Listen to "Blow By Blow" as well. That was recorded by the great George Martin who revealed the true heights of what Jeff could achieve. You might think you have heard all the pieces before but NOT like this. It is another step showing what Jeff Beck could do and revealed to Jeff what a GOOD recording should sound like. I was in the same class at school for just one term and we were all 13 years old, a year younger than he, at 14. He had turned up out of the blue because his Mum wanted him to finish off his school learning. He was desperately trying to get some kind of guitar, and was desperately trying to make one out of peculiar wires and bits of picture frames made of wood. This was what we all remembered, & I looked for him, in the future feeling sure he would achieve his goal in the end, and of course he did! Most Magnificently!!! Hurrah!!!Cynthia Allen McLaglen

I was only 16 when this came out but I had already seen them live ,luckily I had a future brother-in-law just back from Vietnam and he took me and his sister everywhere. I think looking back it was to keep an eye on us.

I suspected that Thruth and this album were JP Jones on bass in the studio and Bonham on some tracks. Some british music industry folks said I might be right. It was common to have ghost or silent players on sessions.

@SCGT-Saganist Nope, it was Ron Wood on bass on everything all throughout, there is no change in style nor tone on each individual album. Ron used a Jazz on the first one and used a late 60's Tele on Beck-Ola, second was through a Marshall head., probably the first too. JPJ played on Beck's Bolero, that's the only one, and I believe it was done before Beck put this band together. I've been playing bass for 55 years.

Only 6 comments about one of the coolest albums of the late 60's. I personally love the 2 Elvis songs 100 times better than the King. Great grooves on both especially this one! Being a JB fan, the other musicians shine on this collection. Rod....just amazing, Ron Wood... I will always love your bass playing, God Bless You Nicky Hopkins... the best piano player in a rock band, and also great drumming... What ever happened to that drummer?? Just give me some RICE PUDDING!

Aside from most of the lyrics this sounds nothing like the Elvis version although it's still well done. Some feel that if The Jeff Beck Group had stayed together they could've given Led Zeppelin a run for their money. I will say that Beck's playing and Rod's vocals went well together.

+harstrib I agree, Jeff is more amazing the EC, and on a higher plane. I like EC too, and Jimmy Page, but of the 3 Yardbirds, Jeff is the tip of the pyramid. I'd put Jimmy and Eric just below as equals. In fact I never thought anyone would ever equal Jimi, but as Jeff continues to amaze, I'm think he's Jimi H equal. A bit unfair as JH career and life were cut short, so we don't know what might have been.
