Shortly after completing high school, Jeff began to gain attention around the Toronto pub and club scene with a three piece band that showcased his incredible talents. The Jeff Healey Band had a monthly weekend gig at Baker Street, on Queen Street East. Jeff soon garnered local attention and people traveled to come and see him play with his band. Record executives came to check out his performances before he eventually signed with BMG Canada and Artista in the USA. His guitar workmanship became legendary with his unique playing style, and he was recruited for a spot in the 1989 motion picture Road House, which starred Patrick Swayze and Sam Elliott as bouncers at a roadside bar. Jeff and his band were regular 'performers' at the seedy club and are featured on its official soundtrack.
Jeff was more than just a gifted guitarist, he was a devoted passionate musician who played trumpet in his own Jazz band, Jeff Healey and the Jazz Wizards, hosted a regular radio music show on CBC, and collected vinyl recordings including vintage 78's, and was reported to have one of Canada's largest private music libraries.
Jeff Healey tragically died in Toronto, Sunday March 2, 2008, after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was only 41. For greater details on Jeff's life and musical career contributions, visit his Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Healey
A live DVD/CD box set entitled "Legacy - Volume 1" was released posthumously in 2009 on Arbor Records without Jeff Healey's wife Cristie and his estate's participation. On his website, Cristie Healey discourages support of this product. www.jeffhealey.com
Someday Sweetheart
Jeff Healey Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You may be sorry
For what you've done
To my poor heart,
And you may regret
Those vows that you've broken,
And the things that you did to me
That made us drift apart.
Oh, you're happy now,
And you can't see how
Those weary blues
Will ever come to you,
But as you sow,
So shall you reap, dear,
And what you reap
Will gonna make you weep,
Someday, sweetheart!
Someday, sweetheart,
Oh you're gonna be sorry, oh yes
For what you done
To my poor heart,
And you may regret
Those vows that you've broken, oh-oh-oh-oh!
And the things that you did to me
That made us drift apart.
Oh, you're happy now,
And you can't see how
Those weary blues
Ever gonna come to you,
But as you sow-ho-ho,
So shall you reap,
And what you reap
Is gonna make you weep,
Someday!
Come on baby,
Have a heart!
Don't you tell me
That we have to part.
You know I've loved you
From the start,
You'll rue the day,
And blue is the day
You break my heart.
In Jeff Healey's "Someday Sweetheart," the singer is addressing their sweetheart, warning them that one day they may come to regret the decisions they made that hurt them. The lyrics suggest that the sweetheart has broken vows and done things that caused their relationship to fail, yet they are currently happy and cannot see the consequences of their actions. Despite this, the singer warns that the sweetheart will one day experience pain as a result of their actions, and will come to regret breaking their heart.
The lyrics contain a sense of sadness and disappointment for a relationship that was once loving and strong, but has since fallen apart. The singer implores the sweetheart to reconsider their actions and think about the consequences they may face in the future. The final lines of the song express the singer's love and desire to keep the relationship alive, but also hint at the sadness and hurt that they have endured.
Overall, "Someday Sweetheart" conveys a sense of regret and longing for a lost relationship while warning about the potential consequences of actions taken in the present. The lyrics focus on the idea of reaping what one sows and the potential for regret in the future.

Someday, sweetheart,
At some point in the future, my dear,
You may be sorry
You might feel remorseful
For what you've done
For the actions you took
To my poor heart,
That hurt me deeply
And you may regret
You could feel disappointed
Those vows that you've broken,
About your promises that you failed to keep
And the things that you did to me
And the things you did to me
That made us drift apart.
That separated us
Oh, you're happy now,
You are presently content
And you can't see how
And you don't understand how
Those weary blues
Such despair
Will ever come to you,
Will come upon you ever
But as you sow,
But just as you planted,
So shall you reap, dear,
You're going to get back what you've given, my love
And what you reap
And what you receive
Will gonna make you weep,
Will cause you to cry
Someday, sweetheart!
At some point in the future, my dear!
Oh you're gonna be sorry, oh yes
You'll undoubtedly regret it
And the things that you did to me
And the things you did to me
That made us drift apart.
That separated us
But as you sow-ho-ho,
But as you planted
So shall you reap,
You'll get back what you've given
And what you reap
And what you receive
Is gonna make you weep,
Will cause you to cry
Someday!
At some point in the future!
Come on baby,
Come on, my dear
Have a heart!
Be compassionate!
Don't you tell me
Don't say to me
That we have to part.
That we must break up.
You know I've loved you
You know that I've cared for you
From the start,
From the beginning
You'll rue the day,
You'll be sorry
And blue is the day
And that day will be miserable
You break my heart.
If you hurt my feelings.
