With guidance from his cousin Willie Taylor, of Day26 fame, as well as producer Mick Schultz (who Jeremih met during his time at Columbia College Chicago), Jeremih released his debut single Birthday Sex in March 2009, peaking at number four on the Billboard Hot 100. His self-titled debut album was released in June 2009, and debuted at number six on the Billboard 200. His second studio album, All About You, was released in September 2010, featuring guest appearances from Ludacris and 50 Cent.
In December 2011, Jeremih confirmed work on a third album originally entitled Thumpy Johnson, and would later release his first mixtape Late Nights with Jeremih in August 2012. After the release of his collaborative EP No More with producer Shlohmo, Jeremih would change his album title to Late Nights: The Album in August 2014, releasing the EP N.O.M.A [Not on My Album] that same month. With no announcement or promotion prior to the release date, the album was finally released on December 4, 2015, featuring guest appearances from J. Cole, YG, Ty Dolla $ign, Migos, Future, Big Sean, Feather, Juicy J, Twista and Jhené Aiko.
In February 2016, Jeremih confirmed his fourth album title as Later That Night, intending to be another instalment in his Late Nights series. During this year, he released another mixtape entitled Late Nights: Europe and would tour with fellow R&B singer-songwriter PARTYNEXTDOOR, with a project between the two being teased. However, Jeremih was later removed from the tour due to issues between the two artists. By the end of that year though, he would then collaborate with Chance the Rapper for a Christmas project entitled Merry Christmas Lil Mama, which was reissued two more times in 2017 and 2020 with new tracks.
In February 2017, Jeremih released the upcoming album's planned lead single "I Think of You" featuring fellow singer Chris Brown and rapper Big Sean. Three months later, the singer then recorded and released an EP entitled Cinco De MihYo, celebrating the annual Mexican/American tradition. This was followed by another EP in March 2018 entitled The Chocolate Box, as well as his collaborative album with Ty Dolla $ign, MihTy in October of that year.
In November 2020, Jeremih was hospitalized in Chicago after testing positive for COVID-19. By November 14, he was reported to be on a ventilator in the intensive care unit. He was taken off the ventilator on November 19 but remained in critical condition. His spokesman said Jeremih has no underlying conditions. Jeremih was transferred out of intensive care on November 21, into a general hospital to make a full recovery. He was released from the hospital on December 4, 2020.

My favorite cousin's back in town
We goin' out
We don't know where we're goin'
We goin' out
And we took care of grandma, we held it down
And we took care of mama, we held it down
We goin' out
We don't know where we're goin'
We goin' out
And we took care of grandma, we held it down
And we took care of mama, we held it down
Bitch, don't play with my family, I keep with my family
Your ugly ass family, your great-great grandmama shoulda used Plan B
We petty, we ghetto
You touch it, you dead ho
And that's on my grandaddy's grave
I got my grandaddy's name
Set it off Big Daddy Kane
Tell all my cousins who bustin' and shakin' to come out the crib
Christmas is coming and I got the gift
I got some money, I might buy a zip
Back at the house where we used to play tips
We was carpoolin' before they made Lyft
Sit on my couch before they could say dibs
Hot flamin's, bitch you not playing with my chips
I'm ready to die for my blood
You could get turned to a blunt
Keep acting crazy, you won't
Bitch I do all of my stunts
I'm ready to die for my blood
Ready to die by the love
We do this type shit for fun
Nigga what's up?
My favorite cousin's back in town
We goin' out
We don't know where we're goin'
We goin' out
And we took care of grandma, we held it down
And we took care of mama, we held it down
My favorite cousin's back in town
We goin' out
We don't know where we're goin'
We goin' out
And we took care of grandma, we held it down
And we took care of mama, we held it down
Mama, I got that bill paid
Mama, I got that real estate
Get a house built like Bill Gates
Buy it back from the bank, more bang for your buck
Big 079 where I still stay
Slaughtered this shit for a gyro
Crash Bandicoot and some Spyro
Pull all the shit in my bio
Food stamps, gotta link
Real blood, got the ink
Fuck what's comin' out the sink
I made a million like Tink
I'm jumpin' in, I won't think
I'm jumpin' in, I won't sink
You think you flippin' like pink, they softer than mink
I'm ready to die for my blood
You could get turned to a blunt
Keep acting crazy, you won't
Bitch I do all of my stunts
I'm ready to ride for my blood
Ready to die for the love
We do this type shit for fun
Nigga, what's up?
My favorite cousin's back in town
We goin' out
We don't know where we're goin'
We goin' out
And we took care of grandma, we held it down
And we took care of mama, we held it down
My favorite cousin's back in town
We goin' out
We don't know where we're goin'
We goin' out
And we took care of grandma, we held it down
And we took care of mama, we held it down

Lyrics:
Ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh
Ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh
Ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh
I think about all the time
Think you may need all of mine
Hate to say you know that love is blind
I'm 'bout to see, I'll close my eyes
(Truth is) They can't see you in here though
Most of them need dollar signs to make
Every day your birthday
And every night your Valentine
If we tried that we could be
Somewhere the climate is warm, long as you around me
I swear that everything will be just fine
I wish that we could take some time
Go anywhere, baby I don't mind
Grown man, in my suit and tie
Hey, there's no we without you and I
Oh, yea, ah yea, ah ah yea
Hey, there's no we without you and I
Oh yea, ah yea, ah ah yea
Hey, there's no we without you and I
See my baby know, where my baby go, I go
It's no better feeling, you know when I'm next to her for sure
It's like,
Oh how can they hate? Get this off my chest
Oh girl, I think I love you, I swear your shit look best
Friends, they know they hate, they don't get the best
Ah yea, I think I love you, oh baby maybe
If we tried that we could be
Somewhere the climate is warm, long as you around me
I swear that everything will be just fine
I wish that we could take some time
Go anywhere, baby I don't mind
Grown man, in my suit and tie
Hey, there's no we without you and I
Oh, yea, ah yea, ah ah yea
Hey, there's no we without you and I
Oh yea, ah yea, ah ah yea
Hey, there's no we without you and I
Oohh, da du du du du
Oohh, da du du du du
Oohh, da du du du du
Oohh, da du du du du
If we tried that we could be
Somewhere the climate is warm, long as you around me
I swear that everything will be just fine
I wish that we could take some time
Go anywhere, baby I don't mind
Grown man, in my suit and tie
