In This Lonely Town
Jeremy Jay Lyrics

In this lonely town.
Yeah, I headed to the pier.
What did I see there?
Fish in the water,
Nose in the air.
A fish in the water,
Nose in the air.
I was walking around
With my peacoat on.
Smelled coffee and sweets.
Yeah! Play that beat.
Cause you've got the rhythm,
Just walking in the streets.
Yeah, you've got the rhythm.
Yeah, play that beat.
We were walking around.
The gang and I hit the town.
Hit the pizza club.
Yeah, play that beat!
Cause you've got the rhythm,
Just walking in the streets.
Yeah, you've got the rhythm,
Yeah, play that beat.

The lyrics of the song "In This Lonely Town" by Jeremy Jay describe the feeling of being alone and wandering aimlessly through an empty town. The singer talks about how they went to the pier and saw fish in the water with their noses in the air, which can be interpreted as feeling isolated and disconnected. The singer then talks about smelling coffee and sweets and hearing a beat, which could be seen as a relief from the loneliness they were feeling. They express admiration for the person playing the beat, acknowledging that they have the rhythm and can make the singer feel alive again. The last verse talks about the singer and their friends hitting the town and going to the pizza club, once again seeking company and connection.
Overall, the song can be interpreted as a reflection on human connection and the experience of feeling disconnected from others. The fish in the water with their noses in the air represent the loneliness and isolation that the singer feels, while the beat and the camaraderie of being with friends at the pizza club offers a glimmer of hope and a way out of the isolation.

This would make a fantastic 'driving song'. Cruising on an open highway with the sun on your face and the wind running through your hair. Ah, that's heaven right there. :-) Great song.
