Street survivors of the seedier side of Helsinki underground, Jericho Fuzz have paid their dues in various former bands. Suho Superstar became infamous as the devil-may-care frontman of the cult stoner rock band Jimsonweed, while all except one of the other members were kicked out from the warped psych folk/rock combo Hidria Spacefolk. In 2004, as fate would have it, the gang found themselves together, and with wordless concord, set out to summon William Blake visions with William Burroughs methods. The resulting music, that is sometimes almost frightening in its somber, shadowy grandeur, has been known to incite violent fist fights among men and lascivious demeanor among women — small wonder given the dark, sexual energy that crackles off the songs. The unique sound of Jericho Fuzz hearkens back to the days when no subcategories were needed in rock. One might hear echoes of Jane’s Addiction here, the other would be reminded of The Doors (on heavy psychedelics), or the doom and gloom of Black Sabbath, but after listening to their songs, you should understand why categorization seems so trivial with this band — Jericho Fuzz have a distinct identity of their own. They might be driven by the same demons that Rolling Stones conjured up in Altamont in 1969, but this is definitely music for the 2000’s. After their inception, Jericho Fuzz seemed to have everything going for them: new songs were written, a manager was found — until everything fell apart in 2005. The reasons need not be dealt with here, what’s important is that Jericho Fuzz are finally back on track with an imminent debut release scheduled. Recorded live at the Barbwire Studio and released on the band’s own Sonic Slum Records, the Liquid Ambush EP should set the record straight: beware of cut merchandise, this is the hard stuff. Take note: Jericho Fuzz are currently shopping for an album deal. Liquid Ambush EP (Sonic Slum records) Release date: February 28, 2006

Let me take you to the top of the world
Shake my tree in you place
I wanna come
Give me light in my cave
Let me take you to the top of the wave
Hold me for a while
Take me to into your heart
Shelter for today
Take me to into your heart
Tomorrow I'll be gone faraway
Let me in little pearl
Let me take you to the top of the world
Shake my tree in you place
I wanna come into your face
Take me to into your heart
Shelter for today
Take me to into your heart
Tomorrow I'll be gone faraway
Take me to into your heart
Shelter for today
Take me to into your heart
Tomorrow I'll be
Into your heart
Shelter for today
Take me to into your heart
Tomorrow I'll be faraway
Tomorrow I'll be faraway
Tomorrow I'll be faraway
The lyrics to "Shelter" by Jericho Fuzz seem to convey a sense of longing and desire for connection with someone. The repeated phrase "Let me in little pearl" suggests a plea to be allowed into the person's inner world, to be given the opportunity to experience something extraordinary with them. The line "Let me take you to the top of the world" could be seen as a metaphor for wanting to share an exhilarating and transformative experience together.
The next few lines, "Shake my tree in your place, I wanna come," imply a desire for intimacy and a yearning to be invited into the other person's space. There is a request for "light in my cave," which could symbolize needing illumination or enlightenment in one's own inner world. The line "Hold me for a while, I wanna see you smile" suggests a longing for emotional connection and the desire to bring joy to the other person's life.
The chorus repeats the plea to be taken into the other person's heart, serving as a metaphor for seeking shelter or safety in their presence. However, there is also a recognition that this connection may only be temporary, as expressed in the line "Tomorrow I'll be gone faraway." This adds a bittersweet element to the song, suggesting that the singer's longing and desire for connection may not be fully realized in the long term.
Overall, the lyrics of "Shelter" explore the themes of longing, desire, and the quest for emotional connection and shelter in someone else's heart.
