Open Your Eyes
Jesse James Kingston a.k.a. Jesse Glick Lyrics

Bet ya bottom dollar
May not to see tomorrow
in the climate that we live
Make you kinda ponder
does a black life matter
Stats tell a tale
even kap tried to kneel
mama why they shoot or throw that Black guy in jail
Why this orange dude still in charge
when he failed
Why they still booing when there's niggas on the field and them same niggas die when a officer in fear and he popped him from the rear
How we voting when the options is a joke
And how we figuring the power of a vote
system tinkering and dollars getting stole
ya baddest porn chick not swallowing that whole
Bad biz been catfished for mad years
like dropping the mains playing the ad libs
just dropping some game and made it classic
Just watching for change
can you imagine

Hook

I can see the change brewing by the minute
freedom bang when the pain reaches limits and chains can't sustain the reason they were invented
Rain cant remain forever it gotta let up
Pressure build
To levels they never feeled
Rebels wielding metal to settle deals
Devil hard at work
Didnt spot it first
(Sh@*)
They prolly Bar this verse
but gods move beyond
the large view
Against all odds they claw thru
Relentless frauds and proud fools
Surround you look for the real and found few

Gave a pound to niggas I found coo lil later I spotted the clown shoes
Just a lesson in a world that keeps undressing on this rock that keep twirling where we twirling is this question....

Overall Meaning

The song Open Your Eyes by Jesse James Kingston, also known as Jesse Glick, is a thought-provoking song that talks about the racial disparities and injustices prevalent in society. The opening lines of the song speak to the uncertainty of life in the present-day world and the complexities of the times we live in. The artist then goes on to highlight the issue of racial discrimination, particularly against the black community. The 'Stats' he mentions allude to the disproportionate number of black people who are victims of police brutality, incarceration, and institutionalized racism in America. He questions the system that allows for this kind of injustice to continue and points fingers at those in power and authority for failing to do right by the people they serve.

Jesse also talks about the importance of voting and how sometimes the choices available are far from ideal. He mentions the corrupt practices that go on in politics and the manipulation of the voting system. The song then takes a turn towards hope with the chorus, where the artist expresses his optimism for change. He talks about how freedom is worth fighting for and how the chains of oppression will eventually be broken. He acknowledges that the fight will not be easy and that there may be obstacles in the way, but he encourages everyone to keep pushing for what's right.

Oh man, this has me in tears. I've been in recovery for just over 6 years. Alcohol wasn't my drug of choice, but I've seen so many go through the consequences of alcohol use, and it's hands down the scariest and most deadly thing to get off of. A moment of silence for the addict still suffering.

Kudos to Mr. Franklin for being respectful to the police, staying calm, and expressing his needs. Your decorum speaks volumes as to your character.

Shout out to the amazing officers and first responders that treated this man like what he was, a human being. In the USA, everyone is considered (and should be treated as if they are) innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

I also want to thank everyone in the comments for being respectful and having so much empathy. It truly gives me hope for humanity in a time that it seems like the world is full of nothing but divisiveness.

Finally, my condolences to Mr. Franklin's family and loved ones. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Should have given him a benzo

@glenturney4750

My guess is he probably ate his drug stash just prior to the cop approaching him and he didn't want the officer to catch him with his illegal dope, just like George Floyd did. That's my guess, but will have to wait til toxicology/blood tests to see what he ingested.

This man did everything right. When the police went to arrest him; he got out of the car and followed every rule. No screaming and fighting. He was polite to the end. The police were also respectful. This is how all exchanges, should be done. Prayer for his family.
