I want my music to be your favorite pair of blue jeans. I want it to be comfy. Perhaps that’s an artsy way of saying I want my CD to be the one that you put on regardless of where you are and how you’re feeling because you know you’re going to take something away from it no matter what’s going on in your life. What kind of music is it? That’s usually the number one question on everyone’s list for a singer/songwriter. My music is what you want to call it. I don’t like to label myself into a box. I want people to get a good feeling in their soul from these songs. Pop rock, Soul Pop…whatever you want to call it is okay with me. I just want it to make people feel good inside. I know that women like Sheryl Crow, Shania Twain, Alanis Morrisette and Adele made me want to sing. But I’m not really trying to be the next anyone. I’m just being the first me.
I’m a girl who grew up moving from home to home. And after I taught myself how to play guitar, I started playing shows around my hometown, Melbourne. When I was 16, I was fortunate to make it all the way to the top 100 in Australian idol. 2009 was a big year for me, I was chosen to be apart of the Tamworth Country Music College and Also became a Grand Finalist in the Telstra Road To Tamworth which was a massive buzz for me. I now perform regularly at festivals and competitions all around Australia, not just because of the music, but because I also love the people and the atmosphere. Making new friends from all over the country that share the same passion as I do.
I recently recorded my very first EP in Nashville with producers Matthew Fell and Sam Hawksley, It was an experience I never want to forget. And is an achievement I am most proud of. Whilst I was Over in the States I went and watched one of my Idols, Adele in Concert and It was then I decided I was going to be a musician who played shows that gave people a chance to just ‘sit in my living room’ with me. To feel like they are part of my story, like I felt with 3,000 other people watching Adele on stage.

For them bad girls
Make the bitch go hard
Make the bitch go hard
Make the bitch go hard
Make the bitch go hard
Make the bitch go hard
For them bad girls
Make the bitch go hard
Make the bitch go hard
Make the bitch go hard
Make the bitch go hard
Make the bitch go hard
Taste
Tell me what's on your plate
Whenever you say my name
Tell me how good it tastes yeah
It's my wave
Haters gone say it's fake
Always tryna take my cake
All my enemies they wanna hate on me
And all this jealousy you better pray for me
Say my name
Go and say my name
In your face
Tell me how that mother fucker taste
How that mother fucker taste yeah
Say my name
Go and say my name
In your face
Tell me how that mother fucker taste
How that mother fucker taste
Jess said that she wanna go hard
For them bad girls
Make the bitch go hard
Move
Moving at my own pace
Compete with myself no race
From the ground up self made
Yeah
It's my time
You never gon' stop my grind
Stay in your lane this mine
All these little snakes tryna prey on me
All this jealousy you better pray for me
Say my name
Go and say my name
In your face
Tell me how that mother fucker taste
How that mother fucker taste yeah
Say my name
Go and say my name
In your face
Tell me how that mother fucker taste
How that mother fucker taste
Jess said that she wanna go hard
For them bad girls
Make the bitch go hard
Make the bitch go hard
Make the bitch go hard
Make the bitch go hard
Make the bitch go hard
Jess said that she wanna go hard
For them bad girls
Make the bitch go hard
Make the bitch go hard
Make the bitch go hard
Make the bitch go hard
Make the bitch go hard
The lyrics to Jessica Jade's song "Taste" delve into themes of empowerment, resilience, and self-assurance. The repetition of Jess wanting to go hard for bad girls suggests a sense of determination and strength in the face of opposition or adversity. The phrase "Make the bitch go hard" is a defiant statement that showcases a refusal to back down and a commitment to pushing forward with intensity and force.
The chorus of the song introduces the concept of taste, asking the listener to describe what is on their plate and how good it tastes when they say her name. This can be interpreted as a metaphor for how others perceive or experience Jess' presence or impact. The mention of haters trying to discredit her success and always attempting to undermine her achievements adds a layer of tension and conflict to the narrative.
The lyrics further highlight Jess' unwavering confidence and belief in herself. The reference to enemies wanting to hate on her and the continual presence of jealousy in her life underscores the challenges she faces as she strives for success. The call to "say my name" and inquire about how her detractors taste serves as a bold declaration of her defiance and unwillingness to be diminished by those who seek to bring her down.
The song also touches on the concept of personal growth and self-motivation. The lines about moving at her own pace, competing with herself, and being self-made emphasize Jess' independence and perseverance. The mention of snakes preying on her and jealousy lurking in the background adds a cautionary note about the pitfalls and obstacles that come with success. Ultimately, the lyrics convey a message of empowerment, resilience, and the unapologetic pursuit of one's dreams in the face of adversity.
