I was 14 lived in my Grandfathers basement. All I had was one of those one speaker looked like a shoe box cassette player, it ate this tape, I was so bummed. After that I always had at least two backups. That was '73. This is the first time I found it since. Good times! Thanks for posting this!

Jimi hendrix is the greatest musician of all time. Hes the innovater of music in general. All of his albums were platinum. I dont care what anyone else thinks. Hes the best ever. I havent seen or talked to my wife in 40 days. The woman who I love more than anyone in my entire life...his music relaxes me and makes me so mellow and calm and makes me wanna live more and more. Legend said Lonnie's older brothers co managed him and hated Jimi so much because of his flashy stage antics and heavy use of volume. While traveling on the tour bus the older Youngbloods, their partner, the band's director and Lonnie voted to fire Hendrix. Lonnie casted the deciding vote and Jimi was seemingly spared but the oldest Youngblood walked to the back of the bus, snatched Hendrix's Fender Duo Sonic guitar and flung it out of one of the windows. Jimi shouted for the driver to stop which he did and Lonnie's brother told him to drive on when Hendrix got out to retrieve his guitar.

That is JImi at 7:18 talking/singing. My theory is that this recordings were made before he started detuning his guitar to Eb, which makes it easier to bend and play generally than standard tuning, plus string gauge also contributes to ease of playing, amp choice, etc...and playing without any effects on a Gibson. His dexterity is there, but there is no wild bending or whammy work, just rhythm and blues chops. He's defining his style here and on his first album there are not much effects either, maybe the use of a fuzz face pedal. That's my theory anyway, this was my first Hendrix recording I bought.

Is not Hendrix at 22:14, absolutely. Is never him, in the whole album. All the notes here are played on beat, Jimi never landed on a minor 3rd on beat in all his career. Hendrix didn't play on the beat, and has never played so bad, and had different ideas. It's just a fake, if you play blues you feel that...

Great album but only 2 Hendrix tracks. , Hendrix did record with Lonnie Youngblood. There are 2 songs on this album that feature Hendrix. They are "All I Want" aka "Soul Food" and "Goodbye Bessie Mae". The rest are outtakes of something (Not related to Hendrix) that may or may not be Youngblood. The only other 2 songs that I know Hendrix and Youngblood played together on were "Go Go Shoes Pt1" and "Go Go Shoes Pt 2"Fantastic music. Apologies if I am wrong but that's what the ref books and Early Hendrix website say.

U R 100% correct, and I bought this 45 called Soul Food (That's what I like) and it sounds like two in one goes, and the B side was Goodbye Bessie Mae exactly like it is here.
And a real Hendrix fan can pick out Jimi anywhere, in this world of great copiers that are great, like Robin Trower, Stevie Ray Vaughan etc.

Youngblood served in the Army for a short time, and returned to Harlem in 1963, where he took over leadership of Curtis Knight's R&B band. The outfit included a talented young guitarist who called himself Jimmy James, but was born James "Jimi" Hendrix. Later on in 1963, Youngblood took the band into the studio and recorded a total of 13 tracks (including alternate takes) with Hendrix on guitar. After Hendrix became a star, this material was bootlegged and repackaged countless times, without Youngblood's consent; in fact, some shadier companies even overdubbed anonymous fuzz-toned guitarists in order to make the material sound more like Hendrix. Jimi left the band in '64.

This is just Harlem Jimi rather than downtown Jimi. if you listen to his early stuff with Curtis Knight, it sounds kind of like this. He didn't get real psychedelic until he started playing for the hippies at Cafe Wha? in Greenwich Village.

Yeah right on this is some rag....and jimi is sounding great...love those pops and chicken pickin....definitly some rare form shedazzlin...the sound is just out of this world...sounds like some real Fender custom shit man!
