Friends
Jimmy Page & Rober PLant Lyrics
Bright light, almost blinding
Black night, still there shining
Can't stop keep on climbing
Looking for what I knew
Had a friend, he once told me,
"You gotta love, you ain't lonely"
Now she's gone and left me only
Lookin' for what I knew
Ah ah, ah ah, ooh ooh, ooh ahh, oh
Oooh, I'm telling you now
The greatest thing you ever can do now
Is trade a smile with someone who's blue now
It's very easy just'a oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, ahhh
Met a man on the roadside crying
Without a friend, there's no denying
You're incomplete, there'll be no finding
Looking for what you knew
Ah ah, ah ah, ah ah ah, ooh ooh
Oooh, I'm telling you now
The greatest thing you ever can do now
Is trade a smile with someone who's blue now
It's very easy just'a ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah
Ooooooh
Ohh yes, I
Ohh yeah
Ohh yeah
Ohh yeah
Ooooooh
Yeah
I'm tryin'
Oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh
Oooooooooooooh, well ahh
Black night, still there shining
Can't stop keep on climbing
Looking for what I knew
Had a friend, he once told me,
"You gotta love, you ain't lonely"
Now she's gone and left me only
Lookin' for what I knew
Oooh, I'm telling you now
The greatest thing you ever can do now
Is trade a smile with someone who's blue now
It's very easy just'a oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, ahhh
Met a man on the roadside crying
Without a friend, there's no denying
You're incomplete, there'll be no finding
Looking for what you knew
Ah ah, ah ah, ah ah ah, ooh ooh
Oooh, I'm telling you now
The greatest thing you ever can do now
Is trade a smile with someone who's blue now
It's very easy just'a ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah
Ooooooh
Ohh yes, I
Ohh yeah
Ohh yeah
Ohh yeah
Ooooooh
Yeah
I'm tryin'
Oooh oooh oooh
Oooh oooh oooh
Oooooooooooooh, well ahh

Jason's Australiana
Bright light, almost blinding
Black night, still there shining
I can't stop, keep on climbing
Looking for what I knew
Had a friend, she once told me
"You got love, you ain't lonely"
Now she's gone and left me only, looking for what I knew
Mmm, I'm telling you now
The greatest thing you ever can do now
Is trade a smile with someone who's blue now
It's very easy, just-
Met a man on the roadside crying,
Without a friend, there's no denying
You're incomplete, they'll be no finding
Looking for what you knew.
So anytime somebody needs you
Don't let them down, although it grieves you
Some day you'll need someone like they do
Looking for what you knew
Mmm, I'm telling you now
The greatest thing you ever can do now
Is trade a smile with someone who's blue now
It's very easy just
Oh, yeah
My, my
My, my
My, my
My, my
I'm telling you now
The greatest thing you ever can do now
Is trade a smile with someone who's blue now
It's very easy
It's very easy
It's very easy
It's easy-easy, yeah, yeah

This tune was introduced over 50 years ago. How much music that bands play now will be heard 50 years from now? They were a masterpiece!! There is only one Led Zeppelin and no band has ever compared to them and never will be. I am thankful I grew up on their music when times were much different then today. I still am old school and only listen to music from my past, in the 70s. I have not found any music that compares to that era. Guess I'm old and stubborn, but that's the way it is and my taste in music at 64 will forever be old school.

Same here, the 70s was a great era for rock bands.

I can remember watching this on TV. My wife was at work at the airport. We were in our first new apt together, a year married at this point. and I couldn't believe what I was seeing because no one ever thought this would or could even happen.

I'm 54 and was introduced to Led Zeppelin at the age of maybe 5 or 6 due to neighbors' teenagers blasting the Zep out of their homes. Nothing better. "Friends" still has that boogie-ish style to it.

This is a true revelation for so many reasons -- this is certainly not the usual "aging glory hound rockers" rehashing their old hits for nostalgic paunchy fans! This shows true musicians finding a new way to show the song in a context that actually indicates where the original riff and atmosphere could have come from! This whole concert was brilliant!

Me in 1994: "God they look old." Me in 2012: "God they look young."
