After the success of "What Becomes of the Brokenhearted", the intended follow-up, "East Side West Side", was released only in Australia due to an argument with Motown head Berry Gordy. The song was written by Ron Welser and Flamingos' member Terry Johnson.
With his brother David Ruffin, Jimmy Ruffin released a popular cover version of "Stand By Me" (by Ben E. King), taken from The Ruffin Brothers' album, I Am My Brother's Keeper.
Jimmy Ruffin's other hits include "I've Passed This Way Before", "Gonna Give Her All The Love I've Got", "Don't You Miss Me A Little Bit Baby", "I'll Say Forever My Love", "It's Wonderful To Be Loved By You" and "Tell Me What You Want".
In 1980 he collaborated with the Bee Gees' musician Robin Gibb, who produced his album Sunrise. From it came the single which would be his last Top 10 UK and U.S. hit: "Hold On To My Love". In 1986 Jimmy Ruffin collaborated with the British pop group Heaven 17, singing "A Foolish Thing To Do" and "My Sensitivity" on a 12" EP record.
In the 1980s, Ruffin moved to live in Britain, where he continued to perform successfully. In December 1984 he collaborated with Paul Weller of The Style Council for his benefit single "Soul Deep." This went under the name of The Council Collective.
Following the 2010 release of his album I Am My Brother's Keeper, Ruffin began writing and recording songs for a new album that was never issued.
In 2012, a compilation album entitled, "There Will Never Be Another You", including his hit songs "What Becomes of The Broken Hearted", and "Hold On To My Love" had been released.
In addition to his brother David Ruffin (deceased), Jimmy Ruffin had three other siblings: Quincy, Rita Mae (deceased) and Rosa (deceased).

The lyrics of Jimmy Ruffin's song, "Gonna Give Her All the Love I've Got," depicts the story of a man who is finally free and reunited with the girl he left behind. He expresses his joy in being a free man and his eagerness to see his girl again. The song is about second chances and redemption. He regrets his past mistakes and feels remorse for leaving her behind, but he's determined to make it up to her by giving her all the love he's got.
The song's tone is emotional and sincere, with Ruffin's soulful voice conveying the depth of the man's feelings. The lyrics describe the waiting and yearning that both lovers have experienced. Even though the man was incarcerated and separated from his love, the love he felt was never diminished, and he wishes to rekindle the same love he left behind.
The song exemplifies the importance of love, forgiveness, and second chances. The imprisoned man has a new appreciation for the little things in life, especially his love, and vows to hold onto what he once took for granted. The song tells a powerful story of love and redemption that one can't help but be moved by.

There's a train leaving here tomorrow. (Leaving here)
I am leaving this place tomorrow on a train.
And I'll be a free, free man once again. (A free man)
I will finally be free again.
I'm so glad I served my time, I'm gonna meet the girl that I left behind.
I am happy that my punishment is over and I can now reunite with the girl I left behind.
And when I see her, I'm gonna give her all the love I've got. Ooo, when I see her, I'm gonna give her, little girl, all the love I've got.
When I see her, I am going to show her all the love I have for her.
There were times, there were times when each day seems like a year. But the sweet things she said in her letters, made the times disappear, oh yeah. She said, No one's arms will I let hold me 'cause in your arms is where I want to be.
There were tough times when each day felt very long, but her letters were a comfort and reminder of her love. She expressed that she only wants to be in my arms.
So when I see her, I'm gonna give her, little girl, all the love I've got. Ooo, when I see her... (I'm gonna give her all) all the love I've got.
When I see her, I am going to give her everything I have.
Ooo, baby, baby, baby, I miss you so. Ugh! Hmmm (Aw)
I miss her very much and it hurts.
Countless nights I stared out my window at the moonlight, yes I did now. Thinking about the way I used to hold her tight, oh yeah. I must've been out of my mind to do the wrong I did and leave her behind.
I spent many sleepless nights thinking about her and the way we used to be close. I realize now that I was foolish to leave her.
So when I see her, I'm gonna give her all the love I've got. Woo, when I see her, I'm gonna give her, little girl, all the love I've got. Believe me when I tell ya When I see her, I'm gonna give her all the love I've got.
When I reunite with her, I am going to shower her with all the love I have, and I truly mean it.

There is nothing like Jimmy Ruffin's voice. He is one of the best singers of the 60's. Beautiful voice and lyrics equal great music. Nothing like it today.
