The French Song
Joan Jett;The Blackhearts Lyrics

Don't you be nervous baby
I didn't come to bring you down
This is so natural baby
Just let my love turn you around
This twisted love affair
Could really take us somewhere
J'aime faire I'amour sur tout a trois
J'aime faire I'amour sur tout a trois
Don't you feel guilty baby
I won't take long to understand
Don't waste time arguing

We'll make the most with what's at hand
I have to laugh out loud
When you say three's a crowd
I know what I am, I am what I am
I know what I am
I know what I am, I am what I am
I know what I am, I know what I am, I am what I am
I know what I am, I am what I am
Don't think that I'm uncouth, I only speak the truth

J'aime faire I'amour sur tout a trois
J'aime faire I'amour sur tout a trois

Overall Meaning

The lyrics in Joan Jett & The Blackhearts' song "The French Song" tell the story of a person trying to convince their partner to engage in a threesome. However, the lyrics suggest a certain level of discomfort and uncertainty from the partner being propositioned. The singer tries to reassure their partner that this is a natural thing and that they shouldn't feel guilty or nervous about it. They also try to convince them that this arrangement could really take them somewhere.

The lyrics themselves are quite explicit and provocative, but they also add depth to the theme of sexual experimentation. They hint at the various emotions and psychological complexities that come with such situations. The line "Don't you feel guilty baby, I won't take long to understand" suggests that there might be some internal conflict or moral struggle happening within the partner being propositioned. Meanwhile, the line "Don't you be nervous baby, I didn't come to bring you down" tries to alleviate any fears or apprehensions that the partner might have.

Overall, "The French Song" is a song about experimentation, personal boundaries, and the complexity of human relationships. While the lyrics might be explicit, the underlying message is about trust, communication, and mutual respect.

This is one of her best songs. Rock and roll flows through her veins.

She's actually, literally perfect

I've been in love with this woman since 1981.

@inkydoug

..and when Joans' lesbian phase runs it course,you'll be all set! Rock on.

@Prof_Tickles92

inkydoug I honestly dont think she is a lesbian. But Bisexual. She has stated her sexuality is in her music and none of her songs are lesbian but "all inclusive" if you know what I mean. Plus if you can find it there is a vid on her of her flirting with a stage crew member between songs, who was a guy.

@cherrypie1029

Eric Edward she's mine :(

@royf.9034

+Eric Edward Guys, please. She was a goddess in the 80s, but that was 30 years ago. If only we could all be 30 forever...

@leavinghope1970

+Roy F. is an angry gay man who hates women. Please ignore this terrible person.
