Rock
Ek dink aan die wêreld wat ek ken
Totalle anargie ek stem
Jy verkoop jou siel om iewers te kom
Ek weet ek’s ‘n ou maar vêr van dom
My wêreld vanaand
Vat my, o ja rock my
My wêreld vanaand
Ek dink dis alles net ‘n joke
My bors trek toe en ek gaan choke
Maar ons gaan saam met love and war
Ek soek ‘n girl wat my nie bore
Vat my, o ja rock my
My wêreld vanaand
Vat my, o ja rock my
My wêreld vanaand
Maar alles maak nie eintlik saak
My wêreld het alreeds gekraak
My liefde splinter oral heen
As ek jou kry is jy die een
Vat my, o ja rock my
My wêreld vanaand
Vat my, o ja rock my
My wêreld vanaand
Vat my, o ja rock my
My wêreld vanaand
Joe's song Rock My Soul is an energetic and lively call for the world to be rocked, with a strong emphasis on love, war, and personal integrity. The opening lines express a sense of disillusionment and anarchy, with the singer reflecting on the world as they know it and acknowledging that they are far from foolish. The song then transitions into a plea to be rocked, with the repeated refrain of "Vat my, o ja rock my" ("Take me, oh yes rock me") expressing a desire for emotional release and connection.
The second verse continues the theme of love and war, with the singer acknowledging the potential absurdity of these things but also recognizing their importance. The desire for a partner who won't bore them is expressed, which could be seen as a reflection of the need for excitement and novelty in life. The final chorus emphasizes the importance of finding that special person, with the acknowledgement that the singer's world has already cracked and that love is the only thing that can bring it back together.
Overall, Rock My Soul is a song that expresses a desire for excitement, connection, and integrity. Its emphasis on love and war suggests a recognition of life's complexities and the importance of finding joy amidst struggle. The repeated refrain of "Vat my, o ja rock my" is a powerful call to engage with life and be open to new experiences, even when things seem difficult or uncertain.
