Fall in Love
Joe Cocker & Jennifer Warnes Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Ain't funny how time
Steals the feelings from a love affair
And there's no place to lay the blame
'Cause it ain't a case of no one cares
Helplessly we just watch it fade away
Neither of us will admit it
But we're both aching to say
[Chorus:]
Weeooh I miss the days when we were
Crazy in love
When you weren't so sure of me
And I had my little jealousies
Weeooh bring back the days when we were
Crazy in love
I want to feel that way again
Remember when
We were crazy in love

It used to be so easy
One touch and I was high
I could get intoxicated
Just by looking in your eyes
Baby ain't there anything we can do
'Cause I know you're missing me
As much as I've been missing you

[Chorus]

We were more than best of friends
We were crazy in love

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Joe Cocker's song "Crazy in Love" is a reflection about the sadness felt as time passes with a lover, and the love fades away. The artist highlights that it's ironic how time gradually takes away the emotions and energy felt in a past love affair. There's no one to blame, and the singer notes that no one seems to care. They are left in a situation where they can only watch as their love slowly fades. The singer acknowledges that they both know it's happening; however, neither of them is willing to admit it. The artist then goes on to reminiscence about the past times and memories when they were happy together.

In the chorus, the singer describes how they miss the days when their love was flourishing. The days when they were so into each other, they were "Crazy in Love." The days when they both had doubts and feelings of jealousy, but were still more connected than ever. The artist wishes for a resurgence of that intense feeling, asking for the days to return when they were "Crazy in Love."

I used this song in the slideshow presentation for the celebration of life for my husband of 41 years. He loved this movie and the acting of Gere and Winger. I hope he is smiling up in heaven.

My husband served in the Navy and the separations, war, injuries and just getting older, was hard but part of our lives. It's the love that lifted us up where we belong that has kept us in good stead. This beautiful song captures our relationship so well. 34 years though trials, tribulations, separations, but nothing keeps us truly apart. I love you, Jimmy. Always and Forever, your "Beautyfull" xo
