Happy Ending
Joe Loss Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

let's have a happy ending
look at the sun
trying to drive those shadows away
the longest lane will soon be bending
flowers will bloom sending the good news over the way
spring will soon come smiling down the lane
hallelujah, i'm myself again
roll on roll on the happy ending
let us be gay and all the clouds will go away

Overall Meaning

The song "Happy Ending" by Joe Loss and His Band is a cheery and uplifting tune that encourages listeners to focus on the positive and look forward to a bright future. The opening line, "let's have a happy ending," sets the tone for the rest of the song, emphasizing the importance of ending things on a positive note. The second line, "look at the sun," is a metaphor for looking towards the light and away from darkness and negativity.

The third line, "trying to drive those shadows away," reinforces this idea and encourages listeners to actively work towards a more positive outlook. The following line, "the longest lane will soon be bending," suggests that even difficult times will eventually come to an end and that better things are on the horizon. This sentiment is reinforced in the next line, "flowers will bloom sending the good news over the way," which suggests that new beginnings and good things are coming.

The final lines of the song, "spring will soon come smiling down the lane, hallelujah, I'm myself again, roll on roll on the happy ending, let us be gay and all the clouds will go away," are a call to action, encouraging listeners to embrace the good and let go of the bad. Ultimately, the song is a reminder that happiness is a choice and that even in tough times, there is always a reason to have hope.

Loved that one, too. I have just found a copy of "Lou'siana Lullaby" on gold label Winner which I will upload as soon as it arrives!

@78Upm

Funny Joe Loss' first recording was a song called "Happy ending". Anyway, this is a nice upbeat song with some fine solos and good rhythm, thank you for sharing!

@wingobingo

Best thing he ever did, I'm a bit confused I had this on the bluebird label presumably this was a UK release!
