Darling it's just right for me
'Cause I've been thinking of you
Got these far away blues
Oh the water's mad
She's been fighting with the wind
I've been thinkin' of you
So please don't take me the wrong way
Things are fine and people are great, but
I've been thinking of you
Got these far away blues
Got these far away blues
In Joe Purdy's song Far Away Blues, the singer is experiencing a feeling of longing for a loved one whom they are currently unable to be with. The weather and the actions of nature around them serve as a metaphor for their emotional state, with the singer finding solace in the fact that the current state of the world reflects their internal weather. The repeated refrain of "I've been thinking of you, got these far away blues," embodies the idea that distance and separation can lead to a deep melancholy.
Purdy's lyrics are poignant in their simplicity, using everyday language to convey complex emotions. The phrase "far away blues" is a universal sentiment, as most people have experienced the heartache of missing someone who is not physically present. The final verse, in which the singer reassures the listener that "things are fine and people are great," is a reminder that even in moments of sadness, there is still beauty and love to be found in the world around us.
Overall, Far Away Blues expresses a relatable feeling of longing and serves as a reminder of the power of human connection in our lives.
