I know I'll go over budget, but I can't resist buying presents for my loved ones

But hey it's Christmas time
I'm willing to overlook my financial worries for the sake of the holiday spirit

The holiday season has arrived, and it's visible in the festivities all around

Lets go pick out the perfect tree
It's time to find an ideal Christmas tree to decorate

Is it leaning left or is it just me
It appears as though the tree may not be straight, but it could just be my perspective

Ah, honey looks just fine
Upon closer inspection, the tree looks satisfactory

We'll hang the tinsel, string the lights
The decorations for the tree will include tinsel and lights

These ornaments will take all night
The process of decorating the tree will take a while due to the number of ornaments to place

It's a lot of work but that's alright
Even though it's tedious, the effort put into decorating the tree is worth it for the holiday cheer

We'll eat too much and then we'll swear again
We'll indulge in festive foods and then vow to eat healthier come the New Year

That come New Year, we're gettin' in the best shape we've ever been
We'll set a goal for ourselves to get in better physical shape in the coming year

But we know we're lying
Despite our intentions to eat healthier, we know that it's difficult to maintain good habits

So pass the pie and one more roll
For the moment, we'll continue to enjoy the holiday treats

And pass me that remote control
We'll settle in and relax in front of the TV, enjoying holiday programming

We express appreciation for the holiday entertainment, which came at just the right time

We'll pause to give thanks and express appreciation for the many blessings we have in our lives

For all those soldiers over there
We'll take a moment to remember and express gratitude for the brave men and women who serve our country

You know it's Christmas time
The holiday spirit is palpable, and we're taking time to reflect and give thanks

We'll wrap the gifts in green and red
It's time to wrap the presents we've purchased for our loved ones

You kids get back up in your bed
We'll send the children back to bed so that we can continue our preparations without distractions

For Santa won't come in his sled
We don't want the children to stay up too late, thinking that Santa Claus will arrive

We acknowledge that Santa Claus is a fictional character, and that gifts are given by the people who care about us

Then we'll wake up in an hour or two
We'll stay up a bit longer to finish our preparations, before sleeping for a brief period of time

To mommy look, this one's for you
The children will be excited to wake up and give us the presents they've made or bought for us, showing their appreciation

We'll express our sincere appreciation and gratitude for the thoughtful gifts that have been given to us
