From the day that I was born
I have always felt out of place in this life.

I left one very early morning
I set out on a journey without hesitation.

Took my bags and my belongings My guitar and my ideas And headed straight up north
I packed all I needed and followed my intuition.

I felt like an explorer, even though I had modern technology.

Didn't make much of a difference I still strayed back and forth
Even with guidance, I still had doubts and uncertainty.

Took the high road took the low road Didn't know where I was going
I explored different paths without a clear goal.

So I travelled many countries Came through many different towns
I went beyond my comfort zone and saw many new places.

Many nights I couldn't sleep Didn't know what I was doing
I faced confusion and uncertainty in my journey.

Mind you I'm not quite as brave As this might sound
I am not immune to fear and doubt despite my adventure.

I found home in many places Unexpectedly at times
I discovered a sense of belonging in unexpected places.

On the banks of English rivers And in deep, dark German woods
I found home in natural landscapes across different countries.

In the arms of many girls Whose names have slipped my mind
I found comfort in temporary connections and relationships.

In empty bars and hotel rooms I had to leave for good
I found shelter but knew that it would not last forever.

See a candle burn at midnight In a darkened window frame
I found beauty in small, fleeting moments.

Stay up late to watch the sunrise On a clear blue mountain lake
I cherished natural beauty, even if it meant losing sleep.

Just walked to strangers in a pub And ask them for their names
I sought human connection and conversation wherever I went.

Listen to their story Just for conversations sake
I valued hearing others' experiences and perspectives.

After all my travels All the years I spent in search
After all my experiences exploring and wandering.

For a place to call my home For a place where I belong
To find a place where I felt like I truly fit in.

There is just this one and only truth that emerged
Through all my searching, one truth emerged.

If you love what's you are doing, darling, you will find your home
Home is where you find passion and purpose.

Share what feels true to you, even if it is hard or uncertain.
