This whole thing could carry more weight if two things happened.
1. Charlyne Yi wasn't actually the person going public about this, seeing as she has never had any altercation with James Franco, yet seems to be screaming the loudest about this as if she's some sort of martyr. I vaguely knew of her prior to this, but she's now gone way more mainstream since she's gone public, despite having nothing to do with any of the allegations.
2. Charlyne Yi would stop using "white men" in every other sentence, considering her main gripe is allegedly about sexual abuse or misconduct. I don't see what their race has got to do with it, which is going off on a tangent with which she DOES actually have an issue with - non-white people and the fact they're overlooked for roles which, again, has nothing to do with the Franco allegations.

Sounds like Charlyne has some other chip on her shoulder and is using this as her pedestal to rant from.

And using the words "survivors" here is absolutely ridiculous, considering what the allegations against Franco actually are (ie. sexual coercion etc).
We're not talking about Weinstein or Cosby here where "suvivors" would be an accurate word.

Franco has probably done some shitty, unethical things ... but he's getting dragged through the same coals as people who've legitimately raped women, which is the problem with all these "movements". They don't really give a shit about the collateral damage they cause.

Unfortunately, where's there's a shit-ton of smoke, there's almost always a fire. On principle, that's not enough to convict and blacklist someone... on principle, you believe evidence. In practice, however, virtually everyone who's been accused by numerous "victims" of inappropriate behavior has ended up copping to that behavior on some level. It has made standing on principle difficult, because you know what the end result is likely to be.

That said, there's something that always bothered me about Yi that sometimes seems to get lost in the shuffle and the very deliberate wording of her tweets. While she mentions "toxic" behavior around the set, she provides no detailed accusations... implying it's just a reference to the same kind of obnoxious male humor that put Franco and Rogan on the map. Yi isn't accusing Franco of assaulting her, predating her, deliberately making her feel uncomfortable ... her "stand" was based pretty much entirely upon accusations other people were making about inappropriate behavior. In other words, "rumor has it this guy's a scumbag, I'm having a justified moral conniption/panic attack at the thought of having to actually work with him further".

I have to be honest... as a classical feminist, were I in the production staff I'd be wondering exactly how the fuck she would have expected me to respond.

"Did he act inappropriate to you? No? Did you witness him act inappropriately to someone else? No? Ok, so you're just extremely uncomfortable because of other allegations not related to this job? Ok... well, we'd like you to stay, a lot of people are invested in this movie, we can offer this or that or the other thing to help convince you... but if that's not enough, of course the choice is yours. "

If the above statement is considered gaslighting, enabling or "bribery" ... then you've lost me.

Imagine censoring the words "sexual", "harassment", "abuse" when talking about a person being accused of sexual assault

He censored "misconduct" as well.
Makes 0 sense why he'd even make the video if he's this scared to talk.

@rainwater8135

@Justin Kelly ….nothing wrong with proceeding with caution. He doesn’t want all his hard work wasted

@nottellingyou14

I think it’s yt. They demonetize if certain words are used. Another true crime channel explained why they had to call rape the r word. They didn’t want the video demonetized.

@Dana-vz2ts

Or “feminist”

The censoring of the phrase “Sexual Predator” is a prime example of people being too uncomfortable to talk about it. It needs to just be said. Censoring it is benefiting no one but the predators them self. It’s as if we’re supposed to mishear it.

@staciemae

I guess he didn’t want to get demonetized smh. My thought is why make a video on this subject at all

@XxXMrSisterFisterXxX
