It's astonishing to realise that someone can die from a punch when I had a head injury from an accident where I was thrown down the gangway of a bus and hit my head several on poles and the backs of chairs at high velocity before hitting the ground, but I'm still here 20 years later.

Intent should not weigh as heavily as it does sometimes; as it did in this case. The fact that a person did not mean to kill another is already factored into the legal system. It's called "manslaughter." And, had this judge sentenced him appropriately, the manslaughter charge would have been far higher than 7 years. A mugging in most states gets a perpetrator 10 to 15 years, and manslaughter, in most states, is 12 to 20 years. This man was not sentenced correctly.

I've seen someone get life in prison for being in a vehicle with people they thought were their friends, the friends decided to hang out but lied, they wanted to rob someone and the individual riding along did not know why they were making the stop. The two guys get to their destination, said they would be right back the unsuspecting person waited in the vehicle. The two came back after some time and went on about their night. Come to find out the two ended up killing someone and 3 months later they were apprehended along with the innocent person. They RECIEVED life in prison and the innocent ride along victim RECIEVED 60 years. Smh
