Johnny Thunders Lyrics

You′re talkin' to me
I'm not listenin′
Don′t bother me
I'm alone, even with you
I′m alone, so what do I do?
You're tellin′
I'm not listenin'
Don′t bother me
I′m alone, even with you
I'm alone, so what do I do?
I′m alone, even with you
I'm alone, so what do I do?
Alone in the crowd
Alone in the crowd
Alone in the crowd
Alone in the crowd
You′re tellin'
You′re tellin' me
I'm not listenin′
Don′t bother me
I'm alone, even with you
I′m alone, so what do I do?
In these lyrics from Johnny Thunders' song "Alone in a Crowd," the singer expresses a strong sense of isolation despite being surrounded by others. The repetition of the phrases "You're talkin'" and "You're tellin'" emphasizes the idea that someone is trying to communicate with the singer, but they are choosing not to listen. This could reflect a feeling of disconnection or a refusal to engage with the people around them. The phrase "Don't bother me" further emphasizes the singer's desire to maintain their solitude and not be bothered by external interactions.
The repeated refrain of "I'm alone, even with you" highlights the deep sense of loneliness and internal disconnect that the singer is experiencing. Despite being in the presence of others, they still feel a profound sense of being on their own. This could suggest that the singer is grappling with inner turmoil or struggling to find a genuine connection with those around them. The question "I'm alone, so what do I do?" underscores the confusion and perhaps a sense of helplessness the singer is feeling in this situation.
The repetition of the line "Alone in the crowd" in the chorus further drives home the central theme of the song. The singer is conveying a powerful message about feeling lost and detached in a sea of people. This stark contrast between physical proximity to others and emotional distance highlights the profound sense of alienation that the singer is experiencing. The isolation expressed in these lyrics may resonate with listeners who have felt similarly adrift in social situations despite being surrounded by others.
The overall tone of the lyrics suggests a poignant reflection on the complexities of human connection and the struggle to truly engage with others on a meaningful level. Through evocative language and repetition, Johnny Thunders conveys a powerful sense of loneliness and isolation that can resonate deeply with listeners. The haunting quality of the words serves as a powerful reminder of the emotional weight that comes with feeling alone in a crowd, capturing a universal sentiment that many can relate to in their own lives.

This film is an absolute must for lovers of JT. My husband Freddi and I loved it, despite the fact that it's bittersweet to see such an amazing performer come to such a sad end. Johnny will live forever in our hearts.

We all come to sad ends. Death is ugly and death is tragic and the life left behind beautiful. To have lived a life and left something worthwhile behind is all that matters. X
