Since releasing his debut album and receiving nation-wide exposure through itunes, Bryant has toured relentlessly throughout North America. After a successful first year, (ECMA, Music Nova Scotia and Covenant award nominations and three cross Canada tours) 2011 proved to be the first step towards a very bright future.
Described as like a watercolor painting, Bryant's music is beautiful in its melancholy, strength and character conveyed through nicely contrasting styles. His live set aims to hit spiritual and often comedic highs as well as sweet, somber lows. Bryant actively tours throughout Canada. His full length follow-up album entitled "What Takes You", was released in 2012.
Heroine

Babe, your love feels like heroine
So calm my hands and touch my skin
The shaking stops when the drugs kick in
But I'm out of love, out of guides
I'm out of rules, I'm out of lines
It's on me
Too many wrongs to make it right
This time, I bleed
"Hold me once," I told you twice
We lost this war, When we rolled the dice
I know I did the best that I could do
But I could never give enough to you
And every part you didn't break I tried to break myself
When you left me, when you left me
But I'm out of love, out of guides
I'm out of rules, I'm out of lines
It's on me
I'm out of days, I'm out of nights
Too many wrongs to make it right
This time
But I'm out of love, out of guides
I'm out of rules, I'm out of lines
It's on me
I'm out of days, I'm out of nights
Too many wrongs to make it right
This time, I bleed
The lyrics of "Heroine" by Jon Bryant depict the singer's struggle with addiction and heartbreak. The use of the word "heroine" is a play on words, as it sounds like the drug "heroin" but also suggests that the singer's love interest is their "heroine." The love feels like a powerful drug that can calm their shaking hands and touch their skin. However, the singer is also aware that they are out of love, out of guides, rules, and lines. They have made too many mistakes and there are too many wrongs to make it right this time. The pain and heartbreak are so intense that the singer feels like they are bleeding. Despite their best efforts, they could never give enough to their love interest, which led to the end of the relationship.
The repetition of the chorus emphasizes the feeling of being out of love and out of control. The inability to follow guides or rules shows the singer's desperation, as they are willing to do anything to ease their pain. They acknowledge that it is on them and that they are responsible for their actions. The repeated line "this time, I bleed" expresses the physical and emotional toll that their addiction and heartbreak are taking on them. The final line, "when you left me," indicates that the relationship ended because of their addiction and mistakes.
