Lovin' Arms

The one who said that he'd rather roam
The one who said he'd rather be alone
If you could only see me now
If I could hold you now
Just for a moment
If I could really make you mine
And just for a moment
If I could only hold you now
I've been too long in the wind
Too long in the rain
Takin' any comfort that I can
Lookin' back and longin' for
The freedom of my chains
Lyin' in your lovin' arms again
If you could hear me now
Singin' somewhere through the lonely night
Dreamin' of the arms that held me tight
If you could only hear me now
I've been too long in the wind
Too long in the rain
Takin' any comfort that I can
Lookin' back and longin' for
The freedom of my chains
And lyin' in your lovin' arms again
I've been too long in the wi-i-ind
And too long in the rai-ain
And takin' any comfort that I ca-a-a-a-an
Lookin' back and longin' for
The freedom of my chains
And lyin' in your lovin' arms again
I can almost feel your lovin' arms again
The lyrics of Jon English's song Lovin' Arms is about a man who has been away for a long time, wandering aimlessly and at the same time longing for love and companionship. In the first verse, he talks about how he was once someone who preferred to be alone and roam but wishes things were different now. He longs to hold someone tightly, to turn back time even for a moment, and to make that person his. The second verse is about him singing alone in the lonely night, dreaming of being held tightly by the one he loves. He yearns for that person to hear him and know of his longing.
The chorus repeats the phrase "I've been too long in the wind, too long in the rain," which suggests that the man has been through a lot of difficult times on his own. However, he takes comfort in the fact that he is looking back and longing for the freedom of his chains. He wants to be loved and held in someone's arms again. The song's melody has a wistful quality, full of longing, and the way the lyrics are delivered seems to express a sense of vulnerability.
Overall, Lovin' Arms is about a man's longing for love and companionship, and it speaks to anyone who has ever felt lost and empty, yearning for someone to hold them and make them feel loved.
