The most underrated trumpet player from an era of great trumpet players. He has to be rated in the top five.

In music that happens a lot overrated and underrated Jonah Jones is one of the most underrated trumpeter of all times

Lunar Orbit Bach sounds nothing like Buxtehude, even though he idolized him.

Just encountered Jonah Jones for the first time. So many underexposed great Jazz musicians are out there behind the top well known artists. Really nice crisp and tight Jazz trumpeter, a solid trumpeter I should say.

There are basically 4 trumpet players who have influenced my playing style: Jonah Jones; Al Hirt; Maynard Ferguson; James D'Amico. Hearing Jonah on my ancient 33rpm record player taught me that you don't have to soar like Maynard or be super technical like Al. Jonah's style taught me one needs to have fun while playing. It is obvious Jonah is having a blast on this album. If you don't know James D'Amico then search for Hawthorne Caballeros. Jim D'Amico always seemed to have fun.

I have a record of this I picked up the other day for a mousetrap car physics project, picked out something from jazz that was nice and that I would remember before I probably ruined the vinyl., got around to listening today and I'm not disappointed at all. super solid player and singer. after doing concert setting band for 2.5~ years i've started to listen to a lot more jazz and it sounds so much more fun than anything we've ever played especially for me as a trumpet player
