All members are substantial contributors to the Croatian music scene for the fair share of years ...or to put it in less words - They are experienced musicians.
Their debut LP is their honest statement; an uncompromising piece of music which extends geographical borders and language barriers. Their lyrics, often straightforward and generally universal are actually fragments of everyone’s lives. They were almost unknown even by the underground scene standards when they made their first appearance in the mainstream media earlier this year, seemengly out of no-where. The band was formed by five young but quite experienced musician who worked quietly on their first album before launching their first single, „Maggie“, which now has over 20000 views on YouTube. Altough their first album „Bliss“ got raving reviews even by established Croatian music critics, Jonathan is the band that delivers their music even better in front of the audience. They sold out their first solo gig in one of the most popular venues in Zagreb, and in September 2014 they have supported the British post-punk band Editors at their show in Zagreb. They will also make their appearance on Waves music conference in Vienna(Austria) in October this year which is going to be their first international show.
Hands
Jonathan Lyrics

Carve me a hole to die
Lay down my bones
Sing a song for my soul
And cover it over with lye
This world is killing me
In death do you think we dream?
Work me to death
Sully the water I drink
Carve up the land
Then sever my hands
For daring to feel and to think
These men are killing me
In death do you think we dream?
Drive me to tears
Exploit every fear
Punish the weak and the poor
Lie to your man
There's blood in the sand
So much I don't think it can hold any more
So much I don't think it can hold any more
So much I don't think it can hold...
The lyrics of Jonathan's song "Hands" express deep feelings of pain and despair, and the haunting melody only amplifies these emotions. The opening lines "Pull me apart and bury my heart, carve me a hole to die" depict a person who is so emotionally broken that they feel the only way out is to die. The following lines "Lay down my bones, sing a song for my soul, and cover it over with lye" further emphasize the singer's desire to let go, leave the world behind, and have peace.
The singer continues, expressing how this world is detrimental to their well-being. They are being worked until they die and poisoned with every breath. The water they drink is polluted, the land they walk on is destroyed, and their hands are being severed for daring to feel and think. These lines paint a picture of a world that has forgotten the value of life and empathy, and in the end, will cause the death of its inhabitants.
The final lines "Drive me to tears, exploit every fear, punish the weak and the poor, lie to your man, there's blood in the sand, so much I don't think it can hold any more" highlight the agony and hopelessness felt by the singer. They have been pushed to their limits, and the world's brutality has become too much to bear. The blood in the sand is an allusion to war and violence, which is a recurring theme throughout the song. The phrase "so much I don't think it can hold anymore" suggests that the world is at its breaking point and can no longer contain the suffering and destruction.
Overall, "Hands" is a powerful commentary on the state of the world and the impact it has on individuals. The lyrics express a deep sadness and despair while calling for change and empathy towards others. It's a hauntingly beautiful song that will leave a lasting impression on anyone who listens.
