It
Jonny Lang Lyrics

It's not over
It's not over
There's still time

Standin' on the edge of a bridge
A step away from ending it all
All the while you are wondering
Does anyone love me at all

Listening to all the wrong voices
Got you feeling broken and worthless
Well, I just thought that you should know this
Until you fulfill your purpose

It's not over
It's not over
There's still time

This one's for the prostitute
The drug abused, homeless and destitute
And anybody wanting to be rescued
There's still time

Yeah, this is for the orphan who is all alone
All he wants is to have a home
Your earthly father may have left you
But your Heavenly Father told me to tell you

It's not over
It's not over
There's still time

It's not over
It's not over
There's still time

Someone loves you
Someone hears you
Someone feels you
Someone can heal you
Someone wants to see you through

It's not over
It's not over
There's still time

It's not over
It's not over
There's still time

No, no, no, no
No, no, no, no
No, no, no, no
No, no, no, no

No, no, no, no
No, no, no, no
No, no, no, no
No, no, no, no

Please, please don't give up
Please don't

It's not over
Yeah, it's not over
No matter what you've been through
And no matter where you are today
I'm here to tell you

There was a time in my life I thought it was over
But I found out that He still loves me
No matter what I've done He still cares
Yeah, start it up again, start it up again, start it up again

No, no, no, no
No, no, no, no

No, no, no, no
No, no, no

Overall Meaning

The song "It's not over" by Jonny Lang is a message of hope for those who feel hopeless, alone, broken and worthless. The first verse speaks about someone who is standing on the edge of a bridge, contemplating ending their life, and questioning if anyone loves them at all. The chorus reassures them that it's not over yet, and there is still time to fulfill their purpose, be rescued, or find a home.

The bridge of the song defines who the song is for, specifically calling out the prostitute, the drug-abused, homeless, destitute, and anyone who wants to be rescued. The song also contains a message for orphans to understand that their earthly father may have left them, but their Heavenly Father still loves them. The end of the song calls for the listener not to give up and to start it up again.

Heard this song on the radio 23 years ago. Told my husband, get that cd! Expecting an old black guy on the cover ๐Ÿ˜‚. A 17 year old white kid from ND!!! was killing the blues. Life lesson.... try not to pre judge. Still love the song.
