He played the guitar as close to a human voice as I've ever heard. Nuance on every note, such amazing feel, always inventive - it's all there, the wailing, the humour, the tears, the joy, the 'yeah cos it's rock n roll mate', the lot. He was a True Master. Never played the same songs the same way twice and never failed to stop growing as a musician. Great band leader too. Love this cover, there aren't many that could have pulled it off, yet alone perform it like That. RIP Jeff the legend.

@aegirmeingott

what you wrote is absolutely right. jf didnβ€˜t only play guitar, he had told us stories, feelings, poured tears in my soul with his excellent playing skills and musicality, a genius.

No one played the Stratocaster better than Jeff Beck. Not Clapton, not Hendrix. Beck was the master. For me, this performance captures everything that he was about musically. The stage presence, the way he replicates the voice, and his absolute dominance of the guitar. Don't knows what else to say really.

They are all exceptionally good in their own way. All of these great guitarists are in a category of their own virtually. And they can all do things that the others can’t quite do.

Well said, couldn’t agree more πŸ‘ it’s a sad loss.

Well said. This performance really captured Jeff at the top of his game. The dynamics, the feel and the tonality are magnificent. The thing is I've heard so much blues over the decades that frankly I'm sick of it. I typically find it boring and repetitive. But not this performance. Jeff avoids every worn down blues cliche and manages to convey a voice and style that's so damn good and so damn unique. This is my fav Jeff Beck performance.

@David-mw3sb

I think Hendrix was "better".

While JB was certainly a master guitarist and a legend to be sure, and one of my all time favorite players, it’s futile to argue he was the greatest, over others that you mentioned. Suffice it to say he holds a place forever in guitar mastery!πŸ˜‰πŸ™‚βœŒοΈπŸŽΈπŸ˜Ž

Absolutely jaw-dropping. This is one of my favorite songs of all time, and I’ll never hear it the same way again. RIP, Jeff Beck, a true master. We miss you!

Mark my words, this is ONE OF THE GREATEST GUITARIST PERFORMANCES OF ALL TIME AND A COMPLETE DEMONSTRATION OF MUSICIANSHIP AND INSTRUMENT MASTERY.
