Molly

I saw Molly
And then you smiled and grabbed my arm
And I felt Molly
Said you get off at 5:15
And we′ll go meet our friends for drinks
When I pictured what that means
I just saw Molly
And when I woke up in your bed
I saw Molly's house
You kissed the hair up on my head
And I felt Molly′s mouth
I know this is not your fault
Wish I could turn the memories off
But every time I think they're gone
I just see Molly
I'm sorry you′re not
The one I want
My heart is a compass
And she′ll always be north
She hurt me so bad
And you'd never do that
I wish I could see you
The way you saw me
But every time I look at you
I just see Molly
Its not like you don′t measure up
She was bad to me
Never thought to ask the kind of questions that you ask me
Maybe that's the reason why
I don′t believe it when you're kind
When you say you′ll never change your mind
I think of, well
I'm sorry you're not
The one I want
My heart is a compass
And she′ll always be north
She hurt me so bad
And you′d never do that
I wish I could see the way you saw me
Every time I look at you
I still see Molly
Maybe in a year or two
I'll be over her
And I′ll finally see you shining in the kinda light that you deserve
But if we fall in and out of love
Say forever then split up
Guess I'm scared that one day you′ll become
Another Molly
And thats why I see Molly
I just see Molly
I see Molly
The song "Molly" by Jordy Searcy is a heartbreakingly honest and emotional ode to the pain of letting go of a past love. The lyrics describe how, despite meeting a new love interest, the singer still can't seem to shake the memories and feelings associated with his former lover, Molly. The mention of Molly is a recurring theme throughout the song, with the singer constantly referencing her through different situations and memories.
The song opens with the singer describing how, when he first met his new love interest, he saw Molly in her. Even small physical gestures, like grabbing his arm and smiling, remind him of his former lover. The second verse describes waking up in his new love interest's bed, an intimate moment with her that is still overshadowed by the presence of Molly. The chorus reiterates that while this new person is wonderful and kind, his heart still belongs to someone else.
The third verse delves deeper into the reasons why the singer can't let go of his feelings for Molly. He explains that she hurt him deeply, but somehow he still longs for her. He doesn't believe that someone kind and good like his new love interest could be real, which is why he keeps seeing Molly in her. The song ends on a somewhat hopeful note, with the singer acknowledging that maybe someday he'll be able to move on from Molly and love someone new fully.
Overall, "Molly" is a poignant and relatable song that explores the complexities of heartbreak and moving on. The lyrics do an excellent job of capturing the conflicting emotions that often come with letting go of a past love and starting anew.
