He was introduced to flamenco by joining Paco de Lucía's band to form the first jazz-flamenco combination with Rubem Dantas, Carles Benavent, among others. Prior to that, he was member of a band called Dolores.
He has collaborated in an endless list of jazz and flamenco records, and performed along with artists like Michael Brecker. He was also part of the line up of Chick Corea's Touchstone band.
