Paloma

Completamente bella y sensual
Fui bajando lentamente tu vestido
Y tu no me dejaste ni hablar
Solamente suspirabas te necesito
Abrázame mas fuerte, mas
Al mirarte me sentí desengañado
Solo me dio frió tu calor
The lyrics to José José's song Gavilan o Paloma speak of the singer's experiences with love and relationships. The song starts with the singer describing how he was drawn to the beauty and sensuality of the person he's singing to. He approaches her and exchanges a greeting. As the night progresses, the singer falls into a trap set by this person who he thought was irresistible, and she becomes the "teacher" and he the "pupil" in the seduction game. He becomes her humble servant, attending to her every need.
As the night continues, the singer is overwhelmed by his passionate feelings towards this person, but as he begins to remove her clothing, she becomes silent, and he experiences a feeling of disillusionment - realizing that their connection may just be based on physical attraction. He tries to hold onto her, but she gently pulls away. The chorus of the song speaks to the idea that love can be both beautiful and cruel, and that trying to be something you're not can lead to disappointment.
