Eclipse
Josh Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The sun's in the corner of the room
Your eyes speak a holy word
Watch the darkness give way to the stars
We slow dance the universe
Silhouettes in the light of ever-morn
When I hold your hand
As our feet land upon the earth
And our worries are lightyears away
By the soft light of the living room
You eclipse every reservation
In "Eclipse," Josh describes a surreal moment shared between two people. The opening line sets the tone for the rest of the song, with the floor creaking beneath the earth, reflecting the feeling of being ungrounded or suspended in time. The imagery of the sun in the corner of the room suggests a sense of power or warmth emanating from the other person, while their eyes convey a powerful message that the singer finds sacred.
As the song continues, Josh describes the two of them slow dancing through the universe, the silhouettes of their bodies visible in the light of the dawn. The final lines of the song are perhaps the most poignant, as Josh describes the feeling of being completely present and free from worry when he's with this person. They eclipse every reservation - the singer's doubts, fears, and anxieties - and there's a sense of contentment and peace that comes from being with them.
In essence, "Eclipse" is a love song that captures a moment of transcendence and deep connection between two individuals. Through his lyrics, Josh captures the sense of awe and wonder that can come from being completely present with someone else and the sense of being lifted out of normal time and space to something more ethereal.

This is the progressive stuff I've been looking for. No oversaturated tones, no whammy bar slaps, no excessive tapping with harmonics. Pure musicianship, and clean tones.

Excellent idea; another would be a collaboration with Ben Eunson and either Josh or Matteo, or all three!
