I Just Fall in Love Again
Joyce Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I fall in love too terribly hard, for love to ever last
My heart should be well schooled, 'cause I've been fooled in the past
And still I fall in love too easily, I fall in love too fast
I fall in love too easily, I fall in love too fast
I fall in love too terribly hard, for love to ever last
My heart should be well schooled, 'cause I've been fooled in the past
The lyrics to Joyce's song "I Just Fall in Love Again" speak to the singer's tendency to fall in love too easily and too quickly, despite the fact that her past experiences with love have been characterized by heartache and disappointment. The lyric "my heart should be well schooled, 'cause I've been fooled in the past" suggests that the singer understands that her past experiences should have taught her to be more cautious in matters of the heart, but that she is unable to resist the allure of falling in love once again.
The repetition of the phrase "I fall in love too easily, I fall in love too fast" underscores the singer's sense of frustration or even self-blame, as if she recognizes that falling in love so quickly is a choice rather than an inevitability. The phrase "for love to ever last" suggests that the singer is aware that her tendency to fall in love so easily makes it difficult for her to sustain a long-term relationship.
Overall, the song speaks to the universal experience of longing for love and the pain that can arise when love does not last, despite our best efforts. The singer's vulnerability and willingness to put herself out there again and again, even in the face of past heartache, make the song relatable and emotionally resonant.
