Victim of Changes
Judas Priest Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Whiskey woman, don't you know that you are drivin' me insane?
The liquor you give stems your will to live and gets right to my brain
Don't you know you're driving me insane?
You're tryin' to find your way through life
You're tryin' to get some new direction
Another woman's got her man
But she won't find no new connection
Takes another drink or two
Things look better when she's through

Take another look around, you're not going anywhere
Realized you're gettin' old and no one seems to care
You're tryin' to find your way again
You're tryin' to get some new
Another woman's got her man
But she won't find a new, oh

Takes another drink or two
Things look better when she's through

You been foolin' with some hot guy
I want to know why is it why
Get up, get out, you know you really blew it
I've had enough, I've had enough, good God, pluck me

Once she was wonderful
Once she was fine
Once she was beautiful
Once she was mine (once she was mine)
Change has come over her body
She doesn't see me anymore
Now change has come over her body
She doesn't see me anymore

Changes
Changes
Changes
Changes
Victim of changes

No, no, no

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Judas Priest's song "Victim of Changes" are about a man's frustration and pain in dealing with his partner's alcoholism. The singer is driven insane by the whiskey woman's destructive behavior, which is not only ruining her own life but is also affecting his mental state. He tries to reason with her by telling her that she is not going anywhere, but she continues to drown herself in alcohol in an effort to find some direction in her life. The singer is left feeling helpless as he watches another woman take her man, but he knows that she won't find a new connection.

The chorus of the song suggests that the woman is masking her pain with alcohol, and that things appear better to her when she is drunk. The singer is both angry and frustrated with the situation, and can't understand why the whiskey woman is fooling around with another man. He decides that he has had enough and that it is time for him to move on, as he is the victim of changes that have come over her body.

This song is a prime example of Judas Priest's early heavy metal sound, with its powerful guitar riffs and screaming vocals. It has become one of the band's most popular songs and helped establish them as one of the pioneering bands of the heavy metal genre.

I was 14 years old and this was the only album I wanted. My Mom sent away. and bought it for me. I had been sick and almost dying. I got my album and recovered. Always been the best J P album to me.

Rob's vocal range was epic when they made this album. This is prime Priest.

@manuelduranc1621

Prime Priest is also British Steel 80, Defenders of the faith 84 and Painkiller 90

@t.b.6001

He's mostly still got all of it. back in 2014 there was Halls of Valhalla where he does some REALLY impressive vocal slides down into very deep growls.

@crazyman8472

When Rob Halford hits those high notes, man… 😎

@godiseverything8170

This song, as far as lyrics go, seems to be about a woman with a major alcohol problem, stemming, in part, from her desire to be with a man who is already taken. The perspective of the song is from a former lover/boyfriend, who can only watch as she keeps partying and fooling around like she is still young and pretty. She wants to find someone new, some purpose in life, but she is aging far quicker than she realizes. The protagonist wanted to help, but she would not listen and drove him away from her for good. Now that they are no longer speaking, he can only reflect on the past they shared and how she and he have become victims of changes, victims of time.

@MrDirtclodfight

I would wholeheartedly agree. The one caveat being do you are writing this from your mother's basement.😂
