Born into a musical family in Chester, Jude was immersed in folk music from an early age. His parents were folk artists who gave him his first guitar at the age of 6. Straightaway, he formed his first band with his brother and sister and they gained experience performing at folk events.Jude became very proficient on the guitar and by the age of 13 he was a guitar teacher to his fellow school pupils.
His teens saw him move away from the folk scene as he explored heavier music. He got together with friends and played electric guitar in their locally successful heavy metal band. The band continued whilst Jude was away at college, however during this time, he found his musical tastes had broadened into rock music with a more melodic and acoustic feel. On his return from college, Jude found himself drifting from the band. As if coming full circle, he returned to his folk roots as he visited local folk clubs with his father and started to perform as a solo singer-songwriter.
His last album Morning Sun was recorded in 2009 in collaboration with his brother Tom Edwin-Scott who is also a member of the Brighton-based band Brownstar and previews can be heard at [http://judeedwinscott.com/[url.com]
The Sea

Show you how it came to be
The girl that made my heart take flight
Didn't feel that way toward me
I did what I could to move forward
Find my own place in the sun
Still I was left there to wonder
My love across the ocean
Sailed away from me
cll I have is a photograph
cnd a faded memory
Memories are a blessing
cnd a two-edged sword
There to bring you comfort
Sometimes they just hurt more
We never get the chance to choose
Which one it will be
They show up uninvited
cnd then refuse to leave
My love across the ocean
Is somewhere out at sea
cll I have is a photograph
cnd a faded memory
Life can bring you twists and turns
Leave you upside down
Just when it seems hope is lost
Suddenly it's found
The passing years collected
Like driftwood on the shore
Each one moving faster
Than the one before
Something made me reach out
Softly call your name
I waited for your answer
cnd finally it came
My love across the ocean
Is calling out to me
I'll be here when you reach the shore
My love across the sea
The lyrics of Jude Edwin-Scott's song "The Sea" tell a tale of unrequited love and the lingering memories that come with it. The singer begins by reflecting on the beginning of their love story, admitting that the person who captured their heart did not feel the same way towards them. Despite this, the singer tries to move forward and find their own happiness but is left wondering about the love they never won.
The lyrics evoke a sense of longing and nostalgia, as the singer confesses that all they have now are a photograph and a faded memory of their love. Memories, the lyrics suggest, can be both a blessing and a painful reminder. They can bring comfort but also cause anguish, as they appear without invitation and then refuse to leave.
The song takes a turn in the following verses, hinting at a glimmer of hope and unexpected twists in life. The passing years are compared to driftwood on the shore, symbolizing the accumulation of time. Each year seems to move faster than the previous one, emphasizing the singer's yearning for resolution and closure.
Something compels the singer to reach out and softly call the name of their lost love. After waiting for an answer, they finally receive a response, signaling that their love across the ocean is calling out to them. The song ends with a promise to be there when the lost love finally reaches the shore, suggesting that there may be a chance for reconciliation and a happy ending.
