Sometimes it feels like I can't die
'Cause I never was alive
Every day it feels like someone new dies
Hope the news is a lie
This is my version of watching you cry
Looking you in your eyes
Took me by surprise
Yeah
Lost too many this year
Shed too many of them tears
Now a nigga richer
But it's way too many people missing from the picture
At the door, let me in
I'm looking for answers, yeah, yeah
At the door, let me in
I'm looking for answers, yeah, yeah
Now I'm getting richer
But it's too many people missing from the picture
Open up the door
Open up the door (yeah, yeah)
(Yeah, yeah), let me in
Sometimes it feels like I can't die
'Cause I never was alive
Every day it feels like someone new dies
Hope the news is a lie
This is my version of watching you cry
Looking you in your eyes
This is my version of watching you die
Took me by surprise
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa
Whoa, whoa, whoa
Cross my heart, hope to survive
That I'ma be the last rich nigga alive
They tell me that I'm finna OD in no time
I told 'em I'll do it on my time, not your time
Got my heart in a hellhole, it's on fire
But I won't let myself get trapped in here this time, time
Time will stop (time stops)
Time will stop (time, time stops)
Sometimes it feels like I can't die
'Cause I never was alive
Every day it feels like someone new dies
Hope the news is a lie
This is my version of watching you cry
Looking you in your eyes
This is my version of watching you die
Took me by surprise
Yeah
Lost too many this year
Shed too many of them tears
Now a nigga richer
But it's too many people missing from the picture
Juice WRLD's song "Can't Die" is a reflection on the frequent loss of life that the rapper has experienced in his short time on earth. The opening lines, "Sometimes it feels like I can't die/ 'Cause I never was alive" suggest that Juice WRLD feels as though he has not truly lived due to the constant threat of death. He goes on to express his despair at the frequent loss of those close to him, hoping that the news of each new death is a lie. The chorus reinforces this sense of helplessness, with Juice WRLD claiming that watching loved ones suffer and pass away is his version of experiencing death.
Despite the sadness and despair conveyed in the lyrics, the song also touches on the idea that Juice WRLD is determined to live his life on his terms. He acknowledges the many people who have told him that he will not survive for long due to his lifestyle, but claims that he will go out on his own terms. The repeated line, "I'll do it on my time, not your time," reinforces this idea.
Overall, "Can't Die" is a poignant song that captures the intense emotions that can come from experiencing loss and grappling with one's own mortality.
