More Wine
Julianna Raye Lyrics

Julianna:
I've seen your lips, dear, in my sleep
Sway of those hips, make willows weep
Slow like a grapevine, gently creeping
Would you care for some more wine?
Let me pour you some more wine

Rufus:
I'm sure you've broken many hearts
Your virtue, temper, and your sparks
Now we're alone, the larks sing sweetly

Julianna & Rufus:
Would you care for some more wine?
Let me pour you some more wine

My how your cheeks grow rosy, your charming freckles darken
The waning sunlight shows me
Time has slipped, the evening bells chime
What do you say?
Let's finish this wine

The morning sun in these damp woods
Somebody shoot those goddamned birds
Why, who are you lying beside me
Would you care for some more wine?
Let me pour you some more wine

Would you care for some more wine?
Let me pour you some more wine

Overall Meaning

In Julianna Raye's song "More Wine," two people are sharing a bottle of wine and enjoying each other's company. Julianna paints a picture of a beautiful woman with swaying hips and lips that she's dreamed of. The slow pace of her movements is compared to a grapevine, gently creeping. She invites the person she's sharing the wine with to have some more, suggesting that they should let the night continue. Rufus adds in that he's sure she's broken many hearts with her virtue, temper, and sparks. But now they're alone and the larks are singing sweetly. They both agree to have more wine and enjoy the moment.

As the night progresses, Julianna notices the color rising in her partner's cheeks and the charming freckles darken. She realizes that time has flown by and the evening bells chime to remind them. She suggests that they finish the last of the wine before heading off to bed. When morning comes, they wake up together in the woods, with the birds chirping loudly. They share another glass of wine before parting ways, a bittersweet but beautiful moment.
