Jung is the son of Jung Eul Young, veteran TV director, and frequent collaborator of writer Kim Soo Hyun. Jung Eul Young was initially against his son pursuing acting, but Jung defied his father's wishes and moved out of the family home. Father and son did not speak for three years (they have since reconciled).
Jung passed the KBS audition, and was signed by leading talent agency SidusHQ. He made his acting debut in "5 Stars", a mobile drama produced by SidusHQ, and broadcast over SK Telecom. Although he earned main roles in some lesser known dramas, Jung's first major break came in the 2004 melodrama series "I'm Sorry, I Love You".
Other notable performances include his role as the ill-fated Prince Hodong, in the 2009 historical and mythical drama, Ja Myung Go; a leading role in the 2017 celebrity murder mystery, Missing 9; as well as main roles in Prison Playbook (2017); the Korean version of Life on Mars (2018); and a leading role in the 2019 music-related fantasy drama, When the Devil Calls Your name.
More recently, in 2020, Jung starred as Kim Jun Wan, in the hit medical drama Hospital Playlist, where he portrayed a cardiothoracic surgeon. He reprised this role in season 2 for 2021.

정경호 목소리는 정말 좋은 이유가 너무 낮지도 높지도 않고 발음대로도 잘 들리고 너무 굵지도 얇지도 않고....기교같은거 막 넣지도 않고 담백하게 부르는게 진심같아서...
