Stranger In My House
Jypsi Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I've never heard before
And I can't find the love
In her eyes anymore
There's some changes going on
I'm beginning to understand
When I'm holding her
I swear I feel the presence of another man
Chorus:
There's a stranger in my house
Somebody here that I can't see
Stranger in my house
Somebody here trying to take her away from me
She sits staring out the window
A million miles away
And when I ask if she's all right
She never has too much to say
Is it somebody we both know
Or somebody she just met
Is she loving him in her mind
While she's lying here in my bed
There's a stranger in my house
Somebody here that I can't see
Stranger in my house
Somebody here trying to take her away from me
Suspicions lead to questions
And questions to alibis
Is it just my imagination
Or has her love turned into lies
There's a stranger in my house
Somebody's here that I can't see
Stranger in my house
Somebody here trying to take her away
Stranger in my house
Somebody's here that I can't see
Stranger in my house
Somebody here trying to take her away
Stranger in my house
Somebody here trying to take her away from me
The Jypsi song, Stranger In My House, tells a story of a man who feels like his partner has become a stranger to him. Something has changed in their relationship, and he is struggling to comprehend what is happening. The writer uses evocative language to convey the sense of distance and disconnection that the man is experiencing. The words "silence," "changes," "presence," and "stranger" all add to the mysterious and slightly unsettling atmosphere of the song.
As the lyrics progress, the sense of unease deepens. The man is left with questions and suspicions, but no answers. He wonders if his partner is seeing someone else, or if it is his imagination. The lines "Is she loving him in her mind, while she's lying here in my bed" suggest that the man feels betrayed and powerless. He is struggling to come to terms with the breakdown of their relationship and feels like he's losing her to someone else.
The chorus reinforces these emotions by repeating the idea of a "stranger in my house." The metaphor suggests that the man's partner is physically present, but emotionally absent. She is there but not there. The sense of loss and the fear of losing her altogether is palpable in the final lines, where the chorus is repeated three times, emphasizing the urgency and gravity of the situation.
Overall, Stranger In My House is a poignant and emotionally charged song that explores the complex and painful experience of losing someone you love. The lyrics are beautifully written, and the haunting melody adds to the sense of melancholy and regret that permeates the tune.
