K-Ci and JoJo's first sign of independence came in 1994 when K-Ci covered Bobby Womack's hit "If You Think You're Lonely Now" for the movie Jason's Lyric. Early in 1996, K-Ci and Jo-Jo teamed up for the song "How Could You" for the movie Bulletproof starring Damon Wayans and Adam Sandler.
By July 1996, K-Ci and JoJo finally had a hit on their hands as guest artists in 2Pac's number-one R&B hit "How Do U Want It". It also topped the Billboard Hot 100. The brothers made their side projects into a full album, Love Always. Released on June 17, 1997, the album spawned two top-ten R&B hits: "You Bring Me Up" and "Last Night's Letter". "All My Life" was the number-one song on the Hot 100 for three weeks, a feat that K-Ci and Jo-Jo had never achieved with Jodeci.Love Always went on to sell four million copies, and the success of the album put Jodeci's reunion on hold indefinitely.
Their second album,It's Real, was released on June 22, 1999. It spawned one major hit "Tell Me It's Real" which peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard's R&B charts. K-Ci and Jo-Jo returned with X on December 5, 2000. "X", the Roman numeral for ten, was picked as the album title to celebrate the Haileys' tenth anniversary in the music business. They made a strong return to the Billboard Hot 100 early in 2001 with the song "Crazy", also included on the Save the Last Dance soundtrack. "Crazy" peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100.
The fourth K-Ci and Jo-Jo album, Emotional, was released on November 26, 2002, but failed to find commercial success. K-Ci and JoJo released a greatest hits album on February 8, 2005. They are believed to have teamed back up with DeVante Swing and Mr. Dalvin for a Jodeci reunion album.

You keep giving excuses to
I just want it to be us girl now and forever
And I don't know if you realize what you doing to me
If you say you love me then you say you don't
Girl your driving me crazy
I don't know if you're leaving today baby
I don't know if you're going to stay
You keep saying goodbye
I don't understand I thought you were happy here
You keep acting like you want to go
What can I do to make you stay
To keep you from saying goodbye
You keep bringing up the past girl
Holding it over my head
How can this fire last
If you keep on putting it out
I'm trying my best to give you everything that I could
But you keep on pushing me away
I don't know if you're leaving today baby
I don't know if you're going to stay
I don't know if you've made up your mind
You keep saying goodbye
I don't understand I thought you were happy here
You keep acting like you want to go
What can I do to make you stay
To keep you from saying goodbye
The lyrics to K-Ci & JoJo's song "Goodbye" reflect the feelings of a man who is confused and hurt by his partner's inconsistent behavior towards him. He wants the relationship to work, but his partner keeps giving him mixed signals and bringing up past issues, making him doubt her commitment. He longs for a stable and loving relationship with her, but she seems to be on the verge of leaving him. The chorus emphasizes his confusion as he expresses his uncertainty about her intentions and his fear of losing her, which is reflected in the repeated line, "You keep saying goodbye."
The lyrics suggest that the man has been trying to make things work and give his partner everything she wants, but her behavior is making it difficult for him to do so. The repeated mention of her bringing up the past suggests that she may be holding some past grievances against him or may not have fully moved on from past issues. This has led to a breakdown in communication, where they cannot seem to understand or meet each other's needs.
Overall, the song is a poignant portrayal of the struggles of a relationship on the brink, as both partners try to reconcile their past and present and find a way to move forward together.
