Hold Me
K.T Oslin Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

[Husband comes home and he says, “Wife turn down the radio, turn off the t.v., and listen to me. Let me tell you about my day.” So she sits down and she listens and he begins to speak.]
When I left here this morning
I was bound and determined
I was never gonna come back
Never, never, I was running
I was running from you darling
I was running from my job
I was running from the kid in me
He never knows when to stop
Got as far as the edge of town
Then I turned my car around
And headed back to you
[Husband says, “Wife, what do you think?” Wife says, “It's very interesting. Before we talk about your day let's talk about mine.”] When I left here this morning
I was bound and determined
I was never gonna come back
Never, never, I was running
I was running from you darling
I was running from my job
I was running from some wrinkles
No cream will stop
Got as far as the edge of town
Then I turned my car around
And headed back to you
(Chorus:) Come here and hold me, tighter
Tell me tomorrow will be brighter
Kiss me, kiss me a little harder
Don't kiss like we're married
Kiss me like we're lovers
We looked at each other
And we started to grin
This morning it was over
This evening we'll start it all over again
Come her and hold me, hold me tighter
Won't you tell me tomorrow'll be brighter
Won't you kiss me, kiss me, kiss me a little harder
Honey don't kiss me like we're married

Kiss me like we're lovers and hold me
Hold me, hold me

Overall Meaning

The song "Hold Me" by K.T Oslin tells the story of a married couple who are both experiencing a rough day, and how they find comfort in each other's arms despite their individual struggles. The husband comes home feeling defeated and shares with his wife how he was originally planning to run away from everything, including her. But as he neared the edge of town, he changed his mind and decided to go back home to her. The wife then shares that she also left home feeling overwhelmed and thought she would never come back, but as she got closer to the edge of town, she also turned her car around and came back home to her husband.

It's clear that what brought them both back was their love and connection to one another. The chorus, "Come here and hold me tighter, tell me tomorrow will be brighter," embodies the comfort and reassurance they find in each other's embrace. They don't want to kiss "like we're married," but rather "like we're lovers," emphasizing the importance of keeping the passion and excitement alive in their relationship.

Overall, the song relays a beautiful message about the power of love and the importance of seeking solace in your partner during difficult times.

Everytime I hear this song I cry...
I'm 50 yrs old & about 15 years ago my wife went through some hard times with 4 miscarriages in 3 yrs & it almost destroyed her.
All we had was each other & God...but our faith was rattled to the core.
But God never closes a door without opening another one.
In 2006 my wife & I boarded a plane on our way to China...it's amazing that God knew there was a little girl halfway around the world that needed a mom & dad...& there was a couple in Mobile Alabama that would one day adopt a beautiful little China Doll.
This little girl is now 13 yrs old & in 8th grade at mine & my wife's old high school here in Satsuma Alabama.
She has a big family now...lots of cousins, uncles, aunts, & 2 sets of grandparents that love her more than she could ever imagine.
She has lots of friends in our neighborhood who are constantly over here at our house & constantly conning me into grilling or cooking for them or taking them somewhere...AND I LOVE IT!!!
This song just takes me back to a time...even though troubling...that is now a good place & it reminds me of how Sondra & I held on & made it thru the storm where God was waiting with open arms saying..."SEE I TOLD YOU I'D GIVE YOU THE DESIRES OF YOUR HEART...BUT IN MY TIME...NOT YOURS".
You know...GOD DOES KNOW WHAT HE'S DOING & HE'S GOT IT ALL UNDER COMPLETE CONTROL... ALL WE NEED TO DO IS KEEP REMEMBERING THAT & THINGS ARE GOING TO OK SOON!!!
Much love from Satsuma Alabama.
