I was not a 1980s baby, but an early 1990s baby. My parents had a lot of good early Christmas specials on VHS that they had taped before my sister and I were born. We grew up watching them. I miss the Christmas specials from years ago!

We had this recorded on VHS with commercials and all and watched it every year through my entire childhood. In the early 2000’s a portion of it got recorded over. How awesome to have it back.

Your post sent me to Wikipedia, where I learned the King's Singers are still doing well touring the world - though not surprisingly, none of the original members feature in the group. They were named after King's College, Cambridge, where they originated as students.

I was nine years of age when this debuted on television and it was one of the sweetest, most entertaining Muppets specials since their two specials, one also being a Christmas holiday, with John Denver. So many great memories of enjoying this every year since we recorded it on videotape. And that finale with Jim Henson's cameo makes me tear up, for his incredible legacy of being one of the greatest puppeteers and entertainers, the Muppets being his family, and he, their great father, per se. This is unique for being the only full crossover special between all four Muppet-related productions. I laughed at every single humor the characters had with each other like the Muppets, Fraggle Rock and Sesame Street, and seeing Jim Henson making a cameo at the end really hits me. It's a shame that some scenes were deleted b/c of copyright, cause I honestly prefer this version with all of them left intact. I also like Doc's little arc of seeing the Muppets as weirdos at first, but then after getting to knowing them and having a little more fun, he warms up and does a honorable deed for Kermit to find Miss Piggy. Also, that icy patch gag really cracks me up.

My only gripe is that some characters like Elmo, Bunsen Honey Doo, Beaker, etc. didn't get enough screen time. One time, I had a dream where there was a scene of Bunsen and Beaker testing a new jet-powered sled on a hill until Beaker goes out of control and ends up crashing in a barn of hay. Would've been cool to see that become a reality really. But we can all dream can we?

Fun fact, some sound effects from Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends can be heard in this like Bertie and Winston's horns, and the crash sound from Horrid Lorry when Miss Piggy gets blown away by the blizzard.

I truly can't tell you how much I appreciate this, because my VHS recording from 1987 was just about dead and the fact that this has the commercials is truly the kicker, because that's what made my VHS so cherished!

Also, I am so glad that I've been vindicated that THIS broadcasted special does in fact have SEVERAL scenes in it that the blasted DVD had removed for absurd licensing junk (Snowman Song, Muppet Babies home video segment, Miss Piggy arrival song and icy patch, etc...)

I always remembered this from back in the day and im glad to have finally found it here!!! For Jim to have all his famous muppets from Kermit and his friends,The fraggles and Seaseme street has got to be the most triumphant Jim henson feature ever!!!! Just recently watched Fraggle rock on DVD and its so good to see the Fraggles along with the rest of the Jim henson gang! Jerry nelson(voice of Gobo from Fraggle rock) did a great voice characteration of Fozzie's mom. He was really gifted to be able to be able to do female characters the way he did and sound like them,as he did with the Trash heap from Fraggle rock. The part i remember the most from this brilliant Muppet christmas special is Doc,the owner of Sprocket. Doc was great on this special and especially on Fraggle rock!

I have vivid memories of watching this live on TV during my family's first Christmas season in the new house that would be our family home for decades. I remember sitting in this tacky bright orange inflatable easy chair (hey, it was the eighties!), and on commercial breaks I'd turn to look at the glow of the Christmas lights on our porch cutting through the heavy snow that was falling outside. Perfect.

Too bad most of my other Christmases since then have SUCKED. That one was golden though.

Watched this first time out as an 11 year old. I loved the Muppet Show and all of the movies that came afterwards... This was Holiday Gold here. You had OG Muppet Show meshed with Sesame Street , Muppet Babies and Fraggle Rock with, as I got older and made knew of his death, a heartstring pulling, tear jerking cameo of Jim Henson at the end. I am 46 years old and I STILL watch this every year. The turkey is a turkey you turkey quote is still hilarious AF every year.

I love this and watch it several times each season! I also adore THE MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL. That 's GREAT and too funny. When my young daughter and I couldn't afford cable, a friend loaned us the MUPPET CHRISTMAS CAROL We watched it over and over and over and my daughter actually memorized the whole thing! Many much thanks and kudos to posting this, with the ads. Talk about taking me back to my childhood-teenager. Our family was such huge Muppet Show fans, I just love this special. I was really into Fraggle Rock back then too, so the fact that Sprocket and Doc are in it, along with Henson at the end, it's just so special.

Thanks for posting this. Watched this when it aired as a kid, taped it on vhs, watched it every year until I wore out the tape. Bought it on VHS only to find that all the good snowman jokes had been cut... for reasons... At age 47, I still quote it more often than you'd expect.
