The group's earliest incarnation included German drummer En Esch and British vocalist Raymond Watts, the latter of whom left and rejoined the group several times over its history. The trio recorded the band's earliest albums in Germany before Konietzko and Esch moved to the United States, where they found much greater success with seminal industrial record label Wax Trax!. German guitarist Günter Schulz joined in 1990; both he and Esch continued with the band until KMFDM broke up in 1999. Konietzko resurrected KMFDM in 2002 (Esch and Schulz declined to rejoin) on Metropolis Records, and by 2005 he had assembled a consistent line-up that included American singer Lucia Cifarelli, British guitarists Jules Hodgson and Steve White, and British drummer Andy Selway. Konietzko and Cifarelli moved back to Germany in 2007, while the rest of band stayed in the U.S. In addition to these core members, dozens of other musicians have worked with the group across its nineteen studio albums and two dozen singles, with sales totaling in excess of two million records worldwide.
Critics consider KMFDM to be one of the first bands to bring industrial music to mainstream audiences, though Konietzko refers to the band's music as "The Ultra-Heavy Beat". The band incorporates heavy metal guitar riffs, electronic music, samples, and both male and female vocals in its music, which encompasses a variety of styles including industrial rock and electronic body music (EBM). The band is fiercely political, with many of its lyrics taking stands against violence, war, and oppression. KMFDM normally tours at least once after every major release, and band members are known for their accessibility to and interaction with fans, both online and at concerts. Members, singly or working together and with other musicians, have recorded under many other names, primarily Watts' PIG, Konietzko's Excessive Force, and Esch and Schulz's Slick Idiot.

Bait & Switch
KMFDM Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Rest your weary soul
I'll do the rest
Careful as I gentle down
Like a sacred cow
Give you my best
Rest assured
Truth is good
To win the goal
There comes a time
Fight or flight
All behold
The legacy mine
Hark the herald angels sing
Glory to the king of kings
A better life imagined in his eyes
A veil of finely calibrated lies
Bait and switch
One and all full of shit
Bait and switch
Everything in time
Follow me
Down the garden path
Take you by the hand
Lead you astray
Don't look back
Leave the past behind
Let bygones be gone
Live for today
In control
Make no mistake
The world is mine alone to take
All for for one
One for none
In god we trust
To seal our fate
The first verse of the song Bait & Switch by KMFDM begins with an optimistic note, urging listeners to remain unperturbed about what the future holds and instead be at rest. The lyrics are addressed to someone who seems to be facing a difficult time or perhaps is questioning the future. The artist reassures the person that they will sort everything out and take care of them. The tone of the lyrics shifts subtly in the second half, and the magnanimous ‘sacred cow’ mentioned at the beginning now sounds calculated and manipulative. The second half speaks of fighting for the ‘legacy’ and upholding the ‘truth,’ highlighting an apparent ‘us against them’ mentality.

It's Hark the herald angels sing. // A better life imagined through his eyes...
@1lovesoni
Also, it's "Want it all, Full of shit" not One and all.

I'm a KMFDM fan from back in the 90s. But I grew up, got a stupid job that needs a suit, and became a "part-time punk". I haven't listened to them since then. I decided to google them and see what they are up to, and this is the first track I came across. This is fucking AWESOME, I'm glad to see that they're still sticking to their guns. The lyrics really made me think of all the bands that change their sound to make money. THANKS KMFDM!
