The track initially appeared on a VULTURES tracklist during the summer of 2023 as “In The Stars,” when the album was titled Bad Bitch Playbook and was split into three releases.
Following being removed from tentative tracklists, it was ultimately abandoned until it was previewed during the VULTURES listening experience in Chicago on February 8, 2024. It was then played at the second experience in New York the next day.
STARS
Kanye West Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I hope he's bright and big, and strong
You already know what I'm on
Tell 'em don't wait up for me
Pullin' up, drop top Porsche
This that glory
I'ma come through and just black out
Keep a few jews on the staff now
I cash out
We finna go where the stars at
And beyond that
This that rip up the contract
Fuck all that
(I hope he's bright and big, and strong)
I ain't gotta ask nobody
Plug talk, plug talk, shawty
And she wanna back it up for me
I'ma blow your back out, shawty (oh-oh)
Got a hundred racks in the morning (oh-oh)
Woo-ooh, woo-ooh, woo-ooh
(I hope he's bright and big, and strong)
I ain't gotta ask nobody
Plug talk, plug talk, shawty
And she wanna back it up for me
I'ma blow your back out, shawty (oh-oh)
Got a hundred racks in the morning (oh-oh)
Woo-ooh, woo-ooh, woo-ooh
I hope he's bright and big, and strong
(Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh)
I hope he's bright and big, and strong
(Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh)
And we'll be way up in the stars
In the lyrics of Kanye West's song "STARS," the repeated phrase "I hope he's bright and big, and strong" suggests an aspiration for greatness and strength. It could be interpreted as a desire for success or stature both physically and metaphorically. The repetition emphasizes the importance of these qualities to the singer, perhaps reflecting Kanye West's own ambitions and goals in his career and personal life.
The lines "You already know what I'm on/Tell 'em don't wait up for me/Pullin' up, drop top Porsche/This that glory" set a confident and determined tone. The singer is assertive about their intentions and doesn't want anyone holding them back. The imagery of a luxurious car and the mention of "glory" suggest a sense of achievement and a desire to shine brightly in their endeavors.
The reference to "black out" can be seen as a metaphor for completely immersing oneself in the moment or activity without holding back. The mention of keeping a few jewels on staff and cashing out could signify a sense of wealth and extravagance. The desire to go where the stars are and beyond suggests reaching for the highest levels of success and surpassing expectations or limitations.
The mention of "plug talk" and having a shawty (girl) back it up for the singer adds a playful and flirtatious element to the lyrics. The reference to blowing backs out and having a hundred racks (money) in the morning adds a glamorous and hedonistic vibe to the song. The repetition of the phrase "I hope he's bright and big, and strong" throughout the lyrics ties back to the idea of seeking strength, power, and success in various aspects of life. The final mention of being "way up in the stars" could symbolize achieving one's dreams and aspirations, reaching a level of greatness and success that is truly out of this world.
