Demasiado
Kapanga Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Camiones sucios cargados van y van
Las putas viejas, pasan, pasan, pasarán
El sol tarda cada vez mas. Yo fumo, fumo y a esperar..

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Kapanga's song "Demasiado" describe a world that is plagued with despair, pain and suffering. The first few lines talk about the constant movement of dirty trucks and old prostitutes, implying a cycle of degradation and depravity. The singer then waits for the sun, which seems to take longer and longer every time. He smokes to pass the time, perhaps indicating a form of escapism from the harsh reality that surrounds him.

The following lines talk about "invented diseases by a king: the one of death," and how he has control over the law. This implies a sense of corruption in the system, where the powerful are able to manipulate the masses. There is no cure for this kind of malfunctions, and hence, impunity is seen as the eternal cure.

The tone of the song then becomes more accusatory towards the listener, as the singer notes how they are consuming the garbage of those in power and being consumed by the raw pain in their soul. The pain is almost too much to bear, which is emphasised by the repetition of the line, "Es casi, casi demasiado." The final lines speak to the overwhelming feeling of being crushed by the world, as the singer is seemingly forced to watch everything unfold from a distance.

Overall, Kapanga's "Demasiado" paints a bleak picture of a world riddled with corruption and pain, with no end in sight. The song is a call to action for the listener, to recognise their own role in perpetuating this cycle of hardship and to take steps to change it.
