I Remember
Kaskade Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Feeling the past moving in
Letting a new day begin
Hold to the time that you know
You don't have to move on to let go

Remember turning on the the night
And moving through the morning light
Remember how it was with you
Remember how you pulled me through
I remember
I remember
I remember
I remember
I remember
I remember
I remember
I remember

Add to the memory you keep
Remember when you fall asleep
Hold to the love that you know
You don't have to give up to let go
To let go
To let go

Remember turning on the the night
And moving through the morning light
Remember how it was with you
Remember how you pulled me through
I remember
I remember
I remember
I remember
I remember
I remember

I remember
I remember

Overall Meaning

"I Remember" by Kaskade & deadmau5 is a bittersweet song about nostalgia and letting go. The opening lines, "Feeling the past moving in, letting a new day begin," can be interpreted as the lingering memories of a past relationship or experience that still haunts the singer as he tries to move on in life. However, he understands that he doesn't have to forget or deny these memories to find closure. Instead, he chooses to hold onto the time that he knows, which can be seen as a metaphor for holding onto the happy moments and positive memories that he shared with someone, while still letting go of the negative aspects of that relationship.

Throughout the song, the lyrics continue to reference beautiful moments that were shared between the singer and his partner. The lines "Remember turning on the night and moving through the morning light, remember how it was with you, remember how you pulled me through" capture the intense, emotional experiences that he had with his loved one. However, as the song progresses, the lyrics suggest that it is time to move on, but not forget. Instead, they should add to the memory that they keep and hold onto the love that they know, even if they have to let go.

Overall, "I Remember" is a powerful love song with insightful lyrics that explore the complexities of memories, relationships, and letting go. It encourages the listener to focus on the good times and to hold onto the love they know, even when it's time to move on.

This is one of those songs for me that unlocks a specific period in my life. It’s a very bittersweet memory.

17, my first “relationship” and losing my virginity. She was 19 and in an off again, on again relationship with her 26 yr old boyfriend.. who she ended up ditching me for.

It was my first job, decent sized company (20-30 employees) and she was the boss’s daughter working there - everyone fancied her, she was honestly super attractive. You know those people who just have “it”.

I used to fantasise about her every day, just imagining what it would be like if I ever got the chance to talk to her, and creating scenarios in my head. I’d even pray to God, saying she was my dream girl; if I ever had the chance with her I’d be the happiest guy in the world. Never in a million years thought it would happen.

Long story short, it happened. But I don’t even blame her for it not working out, at all. I was a decent looking lad with a “fake confidence” that I couldn’t maintain.

I love this song. But again, it’s bittersweet. Because every time I listen to it.. I remember.

I'm 67. Fell asleep on couch and woke up to this playing on YouTube last night. Never heard of it before and style. Don't listen to music/radio much anymore since I gave up playing long time ago but I know music. This a Real Good. Chords, melody, voice, beat, programming the sounds/textures and the use of space.
Live Long.

As a flatbed trucker, I listen to this while driving across Ohio in the dark under full moon. Very magical with all amber lights glowing the highway as she sings.
