Kat Frankie Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

She met you in the driveway it was so alone
With the neighbors still complaining 'bout the heat
And she fell in your way she broke down and said
"I feel love with people who tell you where to go
I don't know why the revelations bore me
I know I wont go outside
(You write there like a rabbit in the head (hole)
I don't know where I'm the prayer that is this city can seals)
I know by the eyes
But Charly don't you staying in this world
You lay down in the hallway it was so white
Like a slow dance with a carpet cheek to cheek
And descenting with her view to to you
Higher Ground with people who tell you where to go
I don't know why they clutch their faiths
Their only defense against the void
(You write there like rabbit in the head
I don't know where I'm the prayer that is this city can seals)
I know by the eyes
But Charly don't you stay in this world
Charly don't you there's so much to live for

Charly don't you the lovers coming soon
Charly don't you there's someone who needs you

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Kat Frankie's song "People" narrate a story of a girl named Charly who seems to be struggling with life and relationships. The first verse shows to us a scene where she meets the singer in the driveway, feeling alone while the neighbors complain about the heat. Charly confesses that she feels a connection with people who guide her towards a specific direction, but finds revelations mundane. She feels lost and stuck, like a rabbit in a hole, and doesn't know where to go. In the second verse, Charly lays down on the hallway floor, and she seems to have a moment of reflection about her life, as she describes it as a slow dance with the carpet. Again she emphasizes her affinity towards people who lead her and questions why anyone would clutch onto faith like it is the only defense against the void. She knows she wants to leave this world but is beckoned by someone's need for her.

The repetitive use of the line "Charly don't you stay in this world" shows that the singer is worried about her and wants her to see that life could be so much more than what she is experiencing. The song does not hint on what exactly Charly is going through, but the lyrics can be interpreted for anyone struggling with their identity, faith, and relationships. The longing of fitting in and feeling lost in the world is part of the human experience that many can relate to. The melancholic melody and slow tempo of the song perfectly match the lyrics, creating an emotional atmosphere that draws the listeners into Charly's story.

Lyrics

She met you in the driveway
It was so long
With the neighbours still complaining about the heat
She fell in your way
She broke down and said
I feel loved
But people will tell you where to go
I don't know why their revelations bore me
I know I won't go outside
But right then like a rabbit in the yard
I'm aware of the predators the city conceals
I know by their eyes
But Charlie don't jump, stay in this world

You lay down in the hallway it was so wide
Like a slowdance with a carpet cheek to cheek
And sensing with their view and only known to you
Higher ground
But people they tell you where to go
I don't know why they clutch their faiths
As their only defense against the void
But right then like rabbit in the yard
I'm aware of the predators the city conceals
I know by their eyes

But Charlie don't jump, stay in this world
Charlie don't jump, there's so much to live for
Charlie don't jump, a lover's coming soon
Charlie don't jump, there's someone who needs you

In a world full of people who live in a delusion that life is a non stop party where everyone is happy and everything is beautiful, to hear this kind of song makes me feel warm. It means I'm not alone in the middle of these zombies. There are still somebody out there who can feel blood running through their veins. Somebody who really know how it feels to be alive in this wicked world that we live in.
