How Are Things In Glocca Morra
Kate Baldwin Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
It well may be he's bringing me a cheering word
I hear a breeze, a River Shanon breeze
It well may be it's followed me across the seas
Then tell me please
How are things in Glocca Morra?
Is that little brook still leaping there?
Through Killybegs, Kilkerry and Kildare?
How are things in Glocca Mora?
Is that willow tree still weeping there?
Does that lassie with the twinklin' eye
Come whislin' by and does she walk away
Sad and dreamy there not to see me there?
So I ask each weepin' willow and each brook along the way
And each lass that comes a-whislin' too ra lay
How are things in Glocca Morra this fine day?
La la la la la la
Does that lassie with the twinklin' eye
Come whislin' by and does she walk away
Sad and dreamy there not to see me there?
So I ask each weepin' willow and each brook along the way
And each lass that comes a-whislin' too ra lay, too ra lay
How are things in Glocca Morra this fine day?
I hear a bird, a Glocca Morra bird
The lyrics to Kate Baldwin's song "How Are Things In Glocca Morra" raise questions about a distant place called Glocca Morra and the longing to know how things are there. The song begins with the singer hearing a bird that may be bringing a cheerful message. The lyrics then mention a breeze from the River Shanon, suggesting that it has followed the singer across the seas.
The singer then asks about the current state of Glocca Morra, wondering if the little brook still flows to Donny cove and if it passes through places like Killybegs, Kilkerry, and Kildare. They also inquire if a willow tree near Glocca Morra is still weeping and if a lassie with a twinkling eye still comes whistling by. The singer ponders if the lassie walks away sadly and dreamily, oblivious to their absence.
Throughout the song, the singer seeks answers from the weeping willows, brooks, and lassies. They want to know how things are in Glocca Morra and express a sense of yearning to be there. The lyrics evoke a longing for a place and people that are far away, creating a sense of nostalgia and wistfulness.
