Voegele began gaining interest from record labels and management companies after recording a series of demos. The first demo "The Other Side" (released in 2003) was produced by multi-platinum, award winning producer Michael Seifert. Her second demo "Louder Than Words" (released in 2004) was produced by Marshall Altman. Kate signed a record deal with Myspace Records in 2006 and released her debut album "Don't Look Away" (produced by Marshall Altman) in May of 2007.
Kate Voegele recently began a recurring guest spot in six episodes of The CW television series "One Tree Hill" on Tuesday, January 22, 2008. Voegele plays Mia, a young singer and keyboardist for a rock band fronted by Jason (Kevin Federline). After Peyton (Hilarie Burton) signs the band to her upstart record label and becomes increasingly frustrated with Jason's attitude, she eventually drops him and the rest of the band, but retains Mia as a developing new artist at the insistence of Haley (Bethany Joy Galeotti), who is somewhat well-versed in the music industry as well. Mia performs songs on the series from Voegele's real-life debut album "Don't Look Away" including "Kindly Unspoken" in her very first episode.
Kate Voegele performed several songs from her debut album "Don't Look Away" on the The Early Show, Saturday, February 2, 2008 on CBS television network nationally. Kate's band member Sam provided backup vocals and beat box support while Mark played the bass guitar.
In the spring, Kate embarked on a world-wind tour, opening up for the rock band Hanson on their 2008 Walk Tour and gaining a reputation in the music business that will surely be worth remembering.

The Other Side
Kate Voegele Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Why you hide what's inside
I've disappeared from your eyes
Never mind, cause I'm leaving you behind
Don't pretend
You don't know who I am
You don't understand
Can you tell me again?
Why do I cling to things like you
When you'll only break me again?
What in the world do I see in you
Standing on the other side of the mountain?
Now, I know
I can go out and show
You just how I'll hold
Myself up on my own
Though your shadow will follow
So won't you leave me here
Alone to stare down below
At you in the cold?
Why do I cling to things like you
When you'll only break me again?
What in the world do I see in you
Standing on the other side of the mountain?
Take everything
And rip at the seams
So I can be free, set me free
Why do I cling to things like you
When you'll only break me again?
What in the world do I see in you
Standing on the other side of the mountain?
I can't decide why you hide on the other side
The song The Other Side by Kate Voegele talks about a person who is struggling to let go of a bad relationship. The lyrics express the confusion and conflicting emotions that arise when one is in a toxic relationship. The singer expresses frustration that their partner doesn't show their true self to them and how they feel unheard and unseen. Despite knowing that the relationship is detrimental, the singer admits to clinging on to their partner even though they know it will end badly, thus leading to a detachment from themselves. However, the singer decides to take a step back and move on from the relationship, even though the idea of letting go is scary. The chorus talks about how the singer wonders what it was that attracted them to the relationship in the first place.
The lyrics of The Other Side reveal the inner turmoil and confusion experienced during toxic relationships. The song highlights the importance of recognizing and letting go of relationships that are not healthy. Sometimes, people may hold on to the idea of the person they think their partner is or could become, rather than accepting their true nature. The singer realizes that even though it is painful, it is essential to move on from the things that do not serve us anymore.
